Thanks GPW, I'm shooting for somewhere between “very nice” and “presentable”. It is always a plus when others comment favorably on my efforts!

Dale, the plan is to apply Grant’s ‘D’ shaped 3 rib hollow foam hatch weather strip on the underside of the hatch near the edges; along the front face of the “bumper” (at the bottom of the hatch) and along the front side of the hatch hinge spar. The gap that I am setting now is just for the canvas wrap clearance. Once I am confident in that, I will us a rabbeting bearing bit along the profile at the outside edge of the walls in the galley area. This step will give the wall canvas a place to wrap and die into the lip of the rabbet, as well as providing the gap needed so that the seal does not get over compressed; hopefully with the added benefit of a partition or cofferdam effect should any water get past the seal.

WW, Ah, that would be a handy tool; an adjustable edge gauge. I was watching some youtube woodworking stuff this weekend and saw a couple of good examples of shop made ones. I liked Matthais Wandel’s version of a trammel.

Also, John Heisz’s Marking gauge.

… but then I guess looking at the videos is enough of a distraction from the build. Let alone building one of those. For now, blue tape and a stick will get the job done!

The reason I did it the way I did was that I only had carpenter's pencils on hand (salvaged from the Charcoal Briquette). My little round nubby pencil got broken somehow. Seemed easier than drilling a rectangular hole. :D

 My first thought was, Uh oh, Mary's cracking the whip on me. Better get off my duff. Then I realized that you meant you were going back to work yourself. :FNP

Tell us Mary what you are up to. I know from your thrifty posts that you are doing some remodeling, fixing some of your canvas work, but do tell, what are you up to with foam?

Actually, it was one of those rigorous work days. Between last week and today we had a mixer not cooperating, but after today, that is behind us now. At least until my back loosens back up.

My how out lil minds forget.........a rain water diverter.... I cut a piece of foam ( really two pieces) I cut them out 2x3x length of the doors top width plus a couple of inches on each side. I used sand paper, used the drimmel and wood rasp and finally got it smooth and shaped. I will glue canvas on it tomorrow after my Doctors appt. after discussing the problem of your getting your TD down he suggested two 2x12s 20 foot and slide it down onto a flat bed truck, just another way. I admire your build so much, but I don't have the patience nor the tools. :wine:

Yes, more and more I find myself forgetting stuff. And more and more having deja vu moments when things trigger my knee jerk memories. You know, those ones that always seem to come to the surface when certain words or thoughts are triggered. (I think some of us are on the same internal calendar and seem to dredge up the same old stuff about once a year. :? :? )

Certainly now that you mention it, I remember that you were looking for advice drilling for the dowels to hold your drip rails. :?

Thank you for the kind words, Mary. Apparently I don't always have the patience for it either (he said after taking a couple of days off from the build). :FNP

Worked on squaring up the wall edges tonight. Hopefully for the final time. It was a bit too cold to fill that divot, but I had uncovered a spot where the wall inner skin was not completely adhered to the wall (probably the same area that I had reglued before and just sanded thru), so I slithered some glue in there and clamped it.

Not much more done.

Karl is building a double axle trailer on spec for a mobile wood fired pizza oven. The chassis consists of a 2x3 (or 4?) box main frame with a matching 2x2 frame located over that. This will contain large under oven storage with two 4 ft long firewood drawers on slides to the rear, and a storage compartment at the front accessed from either side. An exposed sink will be set into the top deck up front. The oven will sit on a rotating platform so that the oven's opening can be turned to either side or the rear. Karl will be making the storage compartment doors with recess quarter turn latch hardware. This ought to be good!

Is Karl's client going to deliver to Poet Creek Campground? I'm buying.

Interesting about DO... we’ve only ever used ours outdoors on a wood fire... Most Wonderful cookware ever invented for cooking out in the woods, and a bit Heavy . Pretty useless at home on my electric stove...    (actually we’ve got other CI pots for that ;) )

Oh well, half eleven.... Time for Lunch !!!

and a bit Heavy

GPW:

No. Cast iron Dutch ovens (and man-hole covers) aren't "a bit heavy." They're damn heavy.

Take a look inside my Dutches and note the color. They're not heavy. The also work fine on the range at home –or for that matter on the stove in the teardrop. They have no legs. When cooking with coals, I used to use three golf-ball sized rocks to get them off the briquets. These days I use a D.O. lid-stand. My ten-inch nests inside my twelve. The lid-stand sits in the ten.

Cast iron Dutches? Been there, done that. I gave 'em away maybe twenty years ago. I see that guy around town once in a while. He walks funny.

Cast aluminum cleans up like iron. The only drawback that I've found with aluminum is you need to stick a knife tip between the lid and the body to loosen it when it's cooking-hot.

I started a Build Thread for Karl's pizza oven trailer here.

I won't be going into as much detail as usual, and may not be able to get pics of all of it since he will be building during the day while I am at work, but it should be interesting all the same.

Back in a few with some details of tonight's efforts.
