Hello from Western North Carolina

Postby Johnny on the spot » Fri Mar 13, 2015 10:40 am

Been a long time lurker, but am now drinking the tear drop cool-ade! :wine:
My name is Jonathan and I am from the blue ridge mountains near Asheville NC. The wife and kids and I have owned several motorhomes, but have never really used them that often, So every time we would take them out we would have some major repair to deal with. Plus I always tortured the family with talk of the many faults and thoughtless things that the builders did or didn't do. Every summer we take a long trip in which we would use the motorhome, Many times out to CA to visit family. Last time was in a Roadtrek. We loved the small size and the park-ability  But didn't like that we had to un-camp to go any where, plus the repairs of a car that has sit most of its life... had a tire blow doing 70 in OK. And other costly repairs...
So...We sold the Roadtrek :) which was good. But we have no home away from home :( which is bad. About that same time I bought a new truck. (new to me any way) Now I am going to build my own home on wheels!!!!

I have a couple of Ideas, probably will not be a tear drop per say, because we have 4 people and 2 of them keep growing. So a little bigger, but am trying to keep it small. Maybe a foamie ? I have a gooseneck hitch in the truck so I will probably use that as my main hitch...

Thats all for now, thanks for the site, thanks for reading my long intro

Welcome to you, J .on the SpoT! You will find a wealth of information on this forum, and hopefully make some camping connections in your region. Lots to see and do, and it is easier to do it with a tiny trailer. If you want to see more of my neck of the woods, click on the icon(s) below to find out where we like to camp and cook in the Pacific North West.

We got out that way this last summer. Spent far too little time in Red Wood. We need to go back. Didn't get far enough into Oregon just skimmed through on our way back.

You'll have to come back in 2016 for the IRG 6.0 !! You would get plenty of time in the Redwoods then.....

If you are on the Blue Ridge, you hardly have to leave home to go camping. Welcome.
