Now that's what I'm talking about! There was a lot more content there than just welding. Fitting the fenders is a major undertaking (at least for us mere mortals) but you chose to take on that challenge just for the custom difference/improvement. We are just never going to see these kinds of design decisions and craftsmanship on 99.99/ct of the builds out there.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures.
I think the Pontiac fenders will be well worth the work in the end.
They allowed me to move the axle ahead 6" which will reduce my tongue weight and give Kermit better proportion.
Also the wheel openings are much nicer and cover the tire more (Chev had a full radius opening) and there are three nice raised ribs to give the trailer more horizontal lines.
But, the real work and creativity will be the nose!
Blending three completely different vehicles together (late 30' car, late 40's car & late 40's truck) to achieve the "look" of a traditional "Camp-Inn" trailer, is the challenge that got me started on this project in the first place.
Oops....I almost forgot the 73 VW bus trunk lid??

Thanks for posting the pics and explanations. I like the new fenders and wheel/axle placement...looks terrific. Also, using the VW Bus compartment lid was good thinking!
What you are doing is very UN-boring to those of us who have never done what you are doing. It is interesting and even exciting at times.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Brian. It reminds me of when I was younger and would get to hang out in my uncle's shop and watch him work. I got to watch a lot of the construction stages of a '49 For convertible that he built from 3 hard tops and 2 convertibles. His '58 Skyliner was one of my favorites. I would still be checking out the shop if I lived closer, but he moved to northwest Montana about 35 years ago. It has been too long since my last trip up that way.

It is this forum that has inspired me to build a second Teardrop!
When I started building Miss Piggy 3 1/2 years ago, I had no idea I would become part of a world wide organization and camping family that would lead me down a whole new lifestyle path.

Sometimes I have a hard time visualizing what you're describing, even though it's crystal clear in your head. These pics have caught me up to where you're at.

Where's the whip cracking icon?

Did a little self inflicted whip cracking yesterday.
Took a break between beer drinking, and got the other fender tacked on. Next thing you know I was in the trunk laying out the kitchen (drawing reference lines from the CAD drawings my son and I drafted a couple of months ago) which led to modifying the 38 Dodge front bumper I plan to use on the rear. That lead to more beer drinking!
So, didn't get much done last night.....except resting up for today!
Small steps forward......but at least I am still moving in the right direction.

After a disappointing weekend on the progress front, I did get something accomplished today.
Got the storage runners for the table top welded in, and the gas rams got the galley hatch mounted.
But Kermit did get some new toys this weekend while we were in the US on Sunday.
Wheels and hubcaps arrived, front and rear window seals, door seals, another interior light, and exterior door handles.
Today I picked up the tires!
Tomorrow I will look into some powder coating for the wheels.
Still moving forward.
