64" teardrop

So can anyone tell me if I am making a mistake trying to build a 64" wide teardrop. It will have 2" thick walls. So the inside will be 60" wide. Am I opening a can of worms going this wide or is it possible? Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

I'll vote yes, on the can-a-worms.

I'm a proponent of sandwiched walls; 3/4" or 1/2" framing/insulation sheethed in 1/4" or 1/8" plywood. Out of curiousity, why 2" walls? If it's insulation, I think it's overkill.

A queen-sized good foam mattress will fit inside a 60" teardrop with those walls.

Hey yeah was going to use 1/2 plywood for the inside walls 1" insulation and 1/4" outside wall, i'm thinking its overkill.

I like to use 1/4" subflooring in and out. It's built for moist conditions and the stuff my lumber yard gets, I think it's Russian birch, is gorgeous. With either a skeletonized 1/2" or 3/4" interior and foam, it's plenty strong.

You'll be fine building a 64" wide (outside) teardrop. I, too, question the need for 2" thick walls. It would imply you're building with extra heavy framing and/or extra thick insulation into them. If you want to use a queen sized bed inside it's nice to have a little room on the sides so you can more easily tuck in sheets and blankets between the bed and the walls.

I will build my teardrop 64" wide too. The cabin walls will have 1/4" plywood outside, 1" sandwich framing and insulation, with 1/8" plywood on the inside skin. That totals 1-3/8" for each wall. Another reason I'm building 64" wide is to have space on the roof to mount a Grape Solar 160 watt solar panel to it which is 58" long. Using Instapark glue-on solar panel mounting brackets it fits well across the roof.

Ours is 60" inside, with 1/2 ply outside, 1-1/2 insulation and 1/4 paneling inside, Comes to 64.5 or so outside.
You'll have some drop from running the sheets sideways on the roof, but that's about the extent of it.
