I did not take these photos, they were taken by the last owner and sent to me before the trailer arrived here.

Well the day finally came, I opened up the Wee Zim for the first time since it arrived, I was right in my assumption, total rebuild down to the frame.
As I went through the trailer to clean it up, I found that is was a long time home of( looks like red squirrels) I must have found at least a five gallon buckets worth of acorns, not to mention what comes out of a squirrel after eating five gallons of acorns. :frightened:

I will try to keep you updated on my progress, though progress may be slow due to fact that I started another Teardrop trailer a couple weeks ago.

That's a fascinating, and clever, design. Do give us more pictures of things like the drop floor - though you've already provided as much squirrel/acorn detail as needed on that subject.....

Brian, To tell the truth I don't have a time line on this trailer, I'll just keep plugging away at it until it's finished.
The 47 Aero Flite I just finished took me a year and a half to finish, I'm hoping for at least half that time for this one.

This looks like one of those wonderful projects where its wonderful to have all the old pieces to trace out all the new pieces (scratch build with complete patterns) ... Doesn’t look from the pics like there’s a heck of a lot of structure worth saving ... :NC

It would make a Nice FOAMIE’ ...
There’s no place like Foam !

Hi Wayne
Well it took me 14 months to build Miss Piggy, and I had planned on 6 months for Kermit.
But, that time frame is coming up in 2 weeks, and we will be camping by then! :applause:
Not with Kermit......still months away!
I am excited about following your build!

The Wee-Zim appears to be similar to one of the photos in this 'Neely Hall craft pattern'

Sadly that is all I have saved on that design, which itself looks like a relation of the Wild Goose. Someone is collecting Neely Hall patterns, but they don't have this one.

Great to see that you are staring in on this one ! I think the rear
drop floor is the whole secret to it. The whole raison d'etre.

Cheers,

...Just an idea....It might help you (and others) if you purchase a roll (maybe two) of Kraft paper (or velum) and draw around each piece as you remove it. Then, you can make notes directly on the paper and keep those drawings for future use or refer-back. For the larger pieces, you may want to tape two sheets of paper together or simply note measurements about the part of the piece that isn't included on the one sheet of paper. I keep my Kraft paper drawings in a box, rolled up individually, with the name of the piece marked on the outside of each roll. They have been helpful several times because they are life-size and easier to see detail on than a photo, although I have photos, too. Also, this way, even if you decide not to complete your project now or right away, you will have preserved this information for future years and you can feel good about that. (If you use velum, your drawings can be reproduced by a good copy shop, with little or no additional effort by you. It takes special (eg. larger) machinery and special paper; so, go to a good copy shop to get information on where to buy and copy it, etc.)
