Legend trailer issues..........

Postby rdemler » Sun Apr 26, 2015 7:27 am

Last spring I bought a 717 Legend trailer.Thought I was buying a high quality trailer that would be issue free for a long time..I used it for one long road trip last summer and put 2800 miles on it.This spring the adhesive holding the sides to the frame is starting to let go..The majority of the trailer is warranted for 5-15 years..Apparently the adhesive is a one year deal..Pretty disappointed with it.Had to remove the inside walls and insulation I put in to get the new adhesive back in to it..Just a heads up,if your going to go with a screw less exterior walls think hard about it..Has anyone else had any problems with their trailer like this?

I have a screw less so I'll have to keep an eye on it.

I just picked up my new Aluma 6 x 12 Friday. Of course I didn't notice until the next morning, that a 2' section
between the skin and one stud had NO adhesive applied at all. I called Monday morning and asked how often
problems like that makes it through their quality control? No answer! I was told they have a repair kit and that
ALL manufactures have repair kits for rebonding the skin. The kit is in the mail so to speak.

It's a matter of cleaning the area with alcohol, applying a two part epoxy and hold the skin tight from the outside
for five minutes. The trailer should not be moved for at least 2 hours. I was told to be very careful not to open
the gap between the stud and skin anymore than necessary, to prevent stretching the skin.

Since I had an engineer on the phone, I questioned him about insulation. He stated, sprayed closed cell foam is
the best option in the stud bays. It's a very effective adhesive.

When the kit arrives, I will post what type of epoxy it is. Hope this helps?

My H&H has the screw-less exterior. But the top and bottom trim are screwed through the skin and into the trailer frame. It's held up fine so far for around two years and 10,000 miles, most of that at interstate speeds.

I was sent 5 tubes of sikafast3121 and an applicator gun.I did reapply the adhesive and held the sides tight with boards on the outside of trailer..Seems to be holding so far it's been 2 days..I still don't get it,the tubes are only good for 9 months and the seal is only warranted a year..I don't wanna be doing this every year..
