Things that don't fit anywhere else...

New project

Postby JunkMan » Tue May 30, 2006 9:15 pm

Went to a county auction today, and couldn't pass this up:

Always wanted a snowcat, and have been eyeing this one for years. Didn't know that they decided to sell it until I was at the auction. Good thing I had a trailer with me :D

Unfortunatly, the tear isn't finished, and I might need it to sleep in for a while, since Odie is pretty pissed at me for buying more "junk" :fb

Just tell her that you have a name to live up to.

That's one heck of a project though. You can leave the Unimogs in the dust the next time there is a snow storm. 8)

Tell her it is to tow the teardrop in the winter. You just need to mount skis on it.

Jeff,
Looks like just the rig to tow your teardrop up the Taylor Highway to Chicken & Eagle in the Winter!

Just tell her another guy on the forum bought a third house and she doesn't have it that bad. At least I have a place to go.

Well she'll get over it, she's used to me dragging all sorts of weird stuff home. She did put up with my Unimog for 4 years!

Said that I could probably take the tracks and undercarriage off the snowcat and make a very ugly weekender out of it

Guess I'll have to get working on the TD so we can use it soon, and she will forget about the "cat" as long as I can find a place to hide it :worship:

That is pretty big to be hiding!

When I come out to Sturgis this year I want a ride!

I've been looking for a big military truck to set up like the ones on RV Crazy! My wife just kind of looks at me like i'm a idiot. The bad thing is i'm getting use to it.

Oh my God!

And I'm afraid to tell my wife that I'm going to start building an 8-foot Portuguese dinghy.
Here we go again!

Doubt if I'll have it ready by then, not to mention I hope there won't be any snow on the ground :o

But, if you make it up to the Buffalo Chip, stop by the Domino's booth and say Hi! I'll be working every night. :(

I stay at the Elk View, but wander over to Buffalo Chip every year at least once. I will definitely stop by the stand.

Jeff...are those the tracks sitting on the back of the trailer?...you're going to need a wider hauler for it if it is all tracked up aren't you? Fun toy!!!! I had a buddy with a weasle when living in Alaska...we were invincible with that thing....made for some fun winter camping....Doug

Yeah Doug, it wouldn't fit with the tracks on. It's not too hard to remove them, but I wouldn't want to do it every time I moved it. I'll have to make a new trailer that is wide enough to accomodate it with the tracks on. It's 93 1/2" wide with the tracks on, so that won't be any problem.

I found a couple of SnowCat forums, and it looks like they are quite popular in northern California. There's a real neat one called a Kristi that has a VW engine, might have to find one of those to go along with the rest of my VW collection

I just have to ask. Never mind!
Long time researching the abandoned South Pennsylvania Railroad along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. God will guide me. As he has done so in the past. southpennrailroad.com
