Old Abandoned Trailers

Postby PresTx82 » Mon May 29, 2006 5:33 pm

I went out camping this weekend and found the trailers below when I was out on a hike. Someone left these abandoned. One was an old Odyssey. I took a few pictures thinking of this forum. I checked the undercarriage and frames and they're not in good shape at all. The insides were shot.

Good ol' huntin' trailers. My bother has a Hi-low he leave out at his hunting lease. It works for him!

Joseph,

Thanks for posting the pictures!

Looks like a lot of useable parts left...

Yea, it's near some hunting areas. It looks like it's been abandoned since circa. 1982 if you go by the License plates on the one. I started looking at them and crawling underneath to look at the axles, springs and frame. You guys got me doing that......!

No Teardrop for me as of yet. I'm still doing the tent thing.

Nice find, to bad it wasn't a super find. That Odyssey is a rare bird. What kind of condition was the fiberglass in? The other one is a Mercury, late 50's.

Have a good day.

Those Odyessy emblems might be worth some money.

Sunday we went on the flower run to the cementarys and spotted a older 10=12 ft TTT. Looked decent from the road, couldn't see the name. Gonna check on it later.

I saw a TTT like the lower one on the side of I-35 when I went to pick up my aluminum. At was near the Judson Rd exit in San Antonio.

Still tenting it, damn, looks like a fabric apartment

Looks like to be a little remote when you camp. Take that into consideration when designing/fabbing your TD.

I think he's gonna feel mighty "crowded" when he builds a little bitty teardrop! :?

That's my big "JEEP Tent". I have some small ones as well. I did the little three man tent over the weekend.

... and then there's this one:

The Teardrop (when built) would be for the lady and I. The kids will get the tents.

Here's a view from my property:

... and Yes, it is remote where I go camping for the most part. That's why I worry about how a teardrop will stand up out there. Personally, I don't think it will. I'll save the Teardrop for the KOAs. Right now, I have to travel over 50 miles on gravel road to get to my property and I don't think a Teardrop can make the trip unless I travel 25 mph. Two trips ago, my wife blew two of her (JEEP) tires. One going and one returning!

Just to demonstrate how "remote" we are, you have to bypass the above signs to get into the area.

I don't think I'd want to camp there in anything less than a bunker. :frightened:

It's OK. I just have to pass 50 miles thru a missile range. It's a short cut and you can't leave the road without the "black helicopters" coming to get ya! :o

Yes. The tire blew out.

Luckily on the return trip when her other tire blew, I used my spare tire for her JEEP.
