I might try that trap in the future if I run into smell problems.

I gave the trailer a nice vacuuming today. I then went to the store and bought all the 1x3 boards I needed for trim. Tomorrow I will cut them to size and install them. I'm going to paint them when they're on the wall.

Rocky, your comment about smell is probably right on the mark. If that is a sink drain, what could really cause the odor in only a 5 gal. container? Not much I am thinking. So maybe I will delay the purchase one of them at the beginning. That helps free up some small dollars for other items.

I realized my first use of the trailer is this Friday -Sunday for two track days! So I took a look at what I "needed" to get done before them. Air conditioning was on that list because it's going to be in the upper 70s and humid.

After trying unsuccessfully to mount the shelf i made, my dad and I decided on making a box without a bottom. It's very sturdy, and will hold my weight because there is plywood on the back of it. And the ac unit fits under it for transport temporarily. Eventually it will be mounted on slide outs, but for now I was able to utilize the window bracket and a piece of wood to prevent it from sliding out. No shaking or noises while running either!

Once I get sliders on there permanently, I can still utilize the space under it for storage. And obviously it will be painted.

So lesson learned, use teflon tape on ALL fittings, not just some. I filled up the tank, everything seemed alright, then the drips started haha. So I drained the tanks, which takes awhile, so I may alter my drain so there are separate lines for each tank.

Also, I took my 4runner and trailer to the CAT Scales to get weighed. I'm glad I did because my tongue weight was much too high for long term use:

4runner + Trailer:
Steer axle: 2060
Drive Axle: 2600
Trailer Axle: 2440
Total: 7100

4runner Only:
Steer axle: 2240
Drive Axle: 2000
Total: 4240

So according to this, is my tongue weight 420 at the moment? (2060+2600) - 4240 = 420?

Or am I calculating that wrong?

I noticed when I put my motorcycle in, the engine ended up in front of the axle. What I will do is flip the restraint so the bike points to the rear. This should put most of the motorcycle weight behind the axle instead and help with tongue weight.

It did tow fine and I will be fine for this weekend, but I was a little surprised. Also, my trailer is at 2860lbs at this point (7100 - 4240). That means I have 640lbs left for cargo

So I flipped the trailer restraint around and the weight of the motorcycle was behind the axle which was good. I also placed my ~100lbs generator behind the rear axle during transport.

Doing 65mph and some city driving for 180 miles got me 11.27 MPG, in my 4runner in which I normally get 17-18, so a 36% reduction in MPG isn't too bad, considering I was towing 3000lbs in a 6.5 ft interior height trailer. Overall, I spent about $15 more on fuel for this trip, but was much more comfortable sleeping in the trailer than the tent.

I didn't work on it all last week. The fiance just started a clinical down in Albuquerque so we drove her down there and I flew back to Wisconsin.

Today I started measuring the trim pieces. I'm using 1x3 pine. Right now it kind of sticks out because it's unpainted, but it will be painted the same as the plywood around it.

Since I'm over budget, I went with a simple wall hook system instead of e track or Rubbermaid fast track. Grand total cost? $0. Just a 2x4 and some garage hooks I had lying around. It gets all my cords off the ground. I will make another for my motorcycle stands. Once I paint it it'll look nice.

In the future when budget permits I may upgrade to something else.

There is nothing wrong with that approach. I used the same hooks for my hunting trip last fall just to get me through the deadlines. And it gives you more time to think about what you really want/need.

I got the interior all trimmed up, but accidentally deleted the picture. I still need to paint it, but it looks more complete now.

Decided to go with the durable Rustoleum Garage floor epoxy. It was $49 at menards. I also got the anti-skid additive. After using my trailer the other week, I realized carpeting would have been a bad idea, and that I'd need something waterproof instead. I should be able to cover my floor and ramp with this. If I have extra, i may do under the trailer.

I also built the frame for my fold-down bed today. I need to put plywood over the top still, and build the part that attaches to the wall.

I made a ton of progress today with the help of my younger brother!
-Finished fold down bed, just need to mount it in trailer. You can see the frame that goes against the wall at the top. I made it 16" high so I can store certain things under it.

Image

-Laid the Rustoleum Garage Epoxyshield. I highly recommend this stuff! It looks like it's going to be perfect when it's done. I just vacuumed the floor real good, mixed it up, and laid it down. I used a trim brush near edges and around the tie downs. I taped off any nice trim pieces. For laying the decorative chips, just tossing them up works nicely. I did the ramp door too. I had probably 1/6 of the gallon leftover.

Now I just have to wait a day or two for it to cure, and then I can install the bed frame and begin painting!

Thanks for posting this. I may give it a try. I want the Allure vinyl planks, but since I will paint the floor first anyway I might just go ahead with this covering and that lets me put the vinyl cost out later in the porcess.

Yea, I wanted carpeting, but after seeing how wet and dirty the floor can get, I wanted something more waterproof. I could still lay carpet in the future if I wanted.

They also have different colored paint chips you can get too, if the white and blue isn't your style. They also have tint base too, so you can get other colors for the epoxyshield.

I could coat the floor like you did and the. Then get some good indoor/outdoor carpet and cut it into sections. Then they can be removed when dirty and washed off.
