He's along for the ride, so he can judge the corners better " at speed. " ( so when its his turn, he can have a faster run. )
Also, the extra weight helps bring the tire temp. up faster. ( on the first couple of runs, then he gets kicked out. )
I had an evap. hose come off the filler neck. ( Imagine that, on a 25yr. old car. ) Thats why, I was dumping fuel on right hand corners.
I was told to fix it, before I got to run again. One hose clamp later I was good to go.
The fuel has nothing to do with the ( tail ) light missing. There are no bumpers, headlights, exhaust or an interior...
