We're just back from our "One lap of Michigan" tour. Overall, 4149 miles, 209.2 gallons, 19.8 mpg. Worst case milage, configured per photo: 16.1: headwinds, 90+ temperatures, AC, spare "stone axe motor" in the bed.



Bear in mind, Benroy McFull is no lightweight, with oak subframe, 15" tires and spare, 2" x 2" x .120 frame. 1997 Nissan now has 265k miles on her., but still had no problems pulling all day, in overdrive, on cruise, meeting or exceding 65-70 speedlimits

That's pretty good mileage. Mine has never been over 15 with the Dodge pulling the teardrop, and the best it has ever done on a trip not pulling anything was 18. The reason it irks me so much is I know several people with Chevrolet trucks setup like mine (small V8, auto, short bed) and they get 21-22 MPG all the time.

That is actually one of my considerations. I've looked at the GMC (same thing) and was impressed with the comfortable cab...even the standard cab. Guess a five cylinder works well for those that can't make up their mind between a four or a six!

I just talked to our upholstry guy. He has a I-5 in his Colorado. I asked him his mileage. He gets 23- 24 on the highway everyday. He has been very impressed with that.

We had a 2003 Mazda Potoge5 with 5speed we used to tow with. If your not familiar with the car its a small wagon like sporty car. It was rated at ~130hp and 125ft pounds of tourque. It got 31mpg unloaded on my wife's daily commute. It would do 25.5 pulling our tear. I'm talking about real gas mileage as in when you check the mileage of every tank of gas and average those tanks together over a period of time. The car pulled the trailer fine, stopping on the other hand always bothered me a little. It would stop but just not as quick as it would on it's own.
