I did NOT use the framing. My window is trimmed in strips of 3/8" plywood, giving a 3/4" bite depth - more than enough for the number of fasteners, the weight involved, and that it's only ever stationary when used. The topmost are in 3/4" hardwood, too.

Got Ya. I have yet to take the panels and trim off to see what's underneath but I know I specified to have the opening reinforced at the factory for a window ac unit so I'm hoping they doubled up on the tubing or something similar.

Update #1:

Insulated the walls and ceiling and obviously over bought on the foam so back to lowes tomorrow to get some money back and buy a mini fridge. I got the floors to put in tomorrow as well. I painted today and need to paint the trim tomorrow before the floors go down. Will install the window ac at some point to it's supposed to be cool out the rest of the week.

Update #2:

Laid the floors and got this 36" cabinet at lowes for $50 originally $225! Made a counter top for it and the work continues.

Looks great!

You work at about 10 times the speed I do. I'm going to be painting for a week.

Not to be critical and I only ask because it's one of my next projects - why didn't you take the laminate out to the edges?

I wanted to leave a gap for it to expand an contract. The gap is only 3/4 of an inch I am going to just trim it out where there isn't anything covering. Less work and kills two birds with one stone. Here in VA the humidity is crazy in the summer and I worry about the flooring warping and didn't want them buckling against the walls. 3/4 is overkill but better safe than sorry and when it's done you won't ever see it.

Your build looks really good. Any pics of the insulation and wiring process you used?

What kind of flooring did you use?

Nice job.

I had the roof insulation and all the wiring done at the factory. I just insulated the walls which wasn't much. It is a laminate floor from lowes. Dark Hickory.

Re-arranged the inside to better suit my needs. Hung the TV, built a pallet bench and a pallet bottle top catcher. It's coming along but there's still a lot to do.
