Newbie from Sheridan, Wyoming

Postby Maia » Fri May 22, 2015 10:15 am

Hi all.
My hubby and I are starting our teardrop build. This is technically my build but the tools are his. We sold my big camper last year when he inherited a cabin but I need more freedom for my camping. A tent is out of the question but I don't need much. I'm excited to start!

Welcome to the fun. Get busy on the teardrop and join us at the Walk the Winds gathering in Pinedale July 25th weekend. Even if you don't have the trailer done you are welcome to join us. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your build is see a bunch of other trailers and talk to the owners.

Here is the info on the gathering... viewtopic.php?f=11&t=61887

Hi Maia!

I know exactly where Sheridan is because I've spent a night or two in the Walmart across from the Arby's there! It's always fun to realize I know where somewhere is thanks to traveling with my trailer :)

Best wishes on your build and future adventures

Welcome neighbor! I am just south of you in Buffalo. I recently finished my camper and have been up in the Bighorns twice so far this year. Would be up there this weekend, but like usual the weather on Memorial Day sucks

Thanks for the welcome. Mick, I'm glad there is another member so close to me! I fell in love with the looks of these little campers but I haven't actually seen one. Just the ones going by on the interstate. Are you having fun in yours?

You said you don't need much. But with a teardrop you get a lot. A dry flat(no rocks) place to sleep(even at a Walmart when traveling). A great outside kitchen(ready to cook and quick to close up) . In a trailer that can be towed by almost anything(no need for a $40,000 truck).
And on top of that a real great group people to camp with at gatherings. You would be surprise the food that comes out of a teardrops galley.
Hope to see you at the Walk the Winds gathering in Pinedale July 25th weekend. I guaranty you will get at lest one good ideal on your build. I will have a beer waiting with your name on it.

I love it! Been sleeping in it every night for the last 2 months. Mine is a non-typical tear drop the build can be seen here

So, I have been working around all our rain and making good progress. I cut out the walls and put epoxy on, started the urethane but I overlooked one very important thing. Cottonwoods! I have to build outside and the town trees are producing so much cotton right now it looks like we are getting snow. :x My sides are looking good, just a trifle furry!!

Got some new pictures in my gallery. Walls are up and bulkheads are in, spars are on. Just have to paint my cabinet face and wait for my ceiling to arrive. Had to order the paneling. I really hope I get to camp in it this summer.
