Since 2005, I have been wanting to trailer a teardrop to CA via Route 66, so I purchased some teardrop plans from Kuffel Creek, and bought the Harbor Freight trailer soon after, but the project has been on hold for 9 years until this past April. Although the Kuffel Creek plans are very good, his teardrop was way more comprehensive than what I wanted to tackle. I have since acquired other plans and decided to take ideas from all these sources and "build my own". Although I have satisfactory carpentry skills, I simply HATE "finish" work (sanding, varnishing, etc), so I decided to use as much pre-finished material as possible. I found some pre-finished 3/4" birch plywood at the local Menards for the sides and cabinets, and also some pre-finished oak boards for the framing spars. I'll use 1/8" bamboo paneling and glossy white melamine board for the interior skin, and FRP panels for the outer skin. No insulation, as we camp only in warm months.
I'd say I'm 2/3 done (last photo) and hope to have it finished in a month or two for a "shake down" run, possibly to Colorado Springs, CO, in Aug or Sept.

7 bolts hold the "doghouse" to the trailer. I want to be able to use the trailer as a flatbed, so I'll add some handles on each corner of the doghouse so it can be lifted off (that's why I left the "fence" brackets on the trailer). It'll be a chore to remove and reinstall, but better than having to own two trailers.
I'll post more photos as I make progress.
