Since RV parks and campgrounds have on site toilets, I don't have to deal with that s___ in *my* living space (trailer). In the alternative, you get one of these, line it with a plastic bag, put some peat moss in the bottom and voila:

We rarely camp anywhere near a campground that would have any hookups, but got no interest in a bucket. Did that in a tent trailer years ago when kids were little, and I have little interest in reliving those memories. Nope, we use one of these:

To empty, we usually always find an outhouse that makes the empty process simple. Pop the top off, rotate the dump pipe, unscrew the cap and everything disappears. We carry a 1 gallon water jug (like a milk jug) and rinse the bottom tank twice during the dump process and it's as clean as new...well, almost. We use a small bottle of liquid deodorizer to keep things smelling fresh as daisies.

We have also dumped in the house toilet once, which works fine. However, when I pull into the house, I don't want to have to deal with anything, so everything is made ready for the next trip before we pull into the house. All we need to add for the next trip is food and fresh water...

Soooooo...........can it be done or not? Should I just stay with a black tank and do it the traditional way?

I would be leery of trying to use just the pipe. Even with long term resident RVers they usually hold the black water in the tank and flush it all at once.

The reason is that it takes a lot of water build up to move everything down the pipe and into the sewer connection. A regular single "flush" might not be enough to move everything through and out.

msnglinc, Howdy;

A lot of RVers make the mistake of not using the largest amount of water when they flush their commodes
and they end up with a thick slug-like mess that doesn't want to flow. This is one time that they need to
realize that water is their friend.
Cindy is very correct when she said;

Homeowners are being 'trained' to think of water as something you only need to use a wee bit of to flush a
toilet. Generally true. With holding tanks it drops in and that's it. No more gravity to help until one pulls the plug.
Then something is needed to create a flow ... nothing better then a tank full of water, otherwise everything is just
going to sit there. Water keeps things from sticking to the bottom and the sides, it creates flow ... so things move
and go where they are supposed to go ... down the tube into the hole and to whereever the campground has it go to.
I think that I mentioned in a post or 2 that I DO live in a RV full-time. I use my black tank and dump it
once a week. Then I pour 3 caps of Downy into the empty tank with 3 full bowels of water to give it a starter
for the next weeks accumulation. The Downy (being a fabric softener is also a water softener and makes it slicker
so 'stuff' doesn't have anything to grab on to. 5 years and zero poo pyramids and still get a clean drain (knocking
on wood),

That's got to be the winning word combination of 2015 on the TNTTT forums. Congrats Hank. Loved it. Still laughing. :lol: :applause:

P.S. Forget the band Foo Fighters. We've got Poo Fighters here...armed with fabric softener, not stool softener. :drofl:
My goal...

I live in a park model travel trailer and it has a house type toilet from the factory never had any problem . the trap to keep out the smell is built in a toilet so you don't need a trap in the sewer pipe. you will need to be hooked up to water or take a lot of water with you for flushing.

Interesting! Do you move it around any? Does it have a gray tank or is all the plumbing just like a house and straight through to the sewer?

Would it be possible to use a residential toilet along with a black tank mounted down the line rather than right under the toilet? My real issue is room under the toilet for the tank. I will be putting the bathroom in the nose and with a triple tube tongue there won't be a lot of room. I could build up the floor but would rather try something different. If I am connected at a campground I could empty it regular since I would be using more water than an RV toilet.

I have moved it a few times but I like to leave it in one place. it is plumbed like a house and does not have any tanks, the sewer hooks up the same as an rv but has no tank or valve, I only have about 12 inches of sewer hose an the rest is 3'' pipe, it is total electric so I have to have 50 amps, it also has a 33' box with a slide so it is not convenient for camping. I have a 27 gallon tote tank that I have used in the past and with a house toilet needs emptied daily. I am also in the process of building a 10 foot tiny travel trailer so I can start camping again.
