1963 Mobile Scout

Hi,
I am new so hello all my new friends. A friend gave me a mobile scout trailer that I am so excited to restore but I am in East Texas and want an A/C. Do I have to take all the paneling off to install new electrical wiring in order to do this? The paneling is intact and beautiful and I am so afraid to take it off an ruin it. The pics are below and yes it's still dirty but you can still appreciate its beauty. any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

while you got it off be sure and look for any wood rot water damage can do nasty things to your wood Well good luck it might be easier to take the siding off to replace the wiring

I agree with you it would be nice to preserve what is there intact and AC in Texas is much of a necessity.

The AC does not have to be permanently attached On our first teardrop I made a plastic piece to fit in one of the windows and ran hoses from a Pet Cool, (not enough BTU's)


On tear Two I adapted a 5000 BTU window shaker and that writeup is here http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=44561 there are others who have used this idea with variations other than cutting holes in the side of the trailer.

DH has started watching a show called Flippin RVs. They do total vintage trailer restorations and sometimes remove the sides and roof to redo wiring to bring a trailer up to current standards, and then rebuild using the original materials.

Might be worth watching to pick up ideas and see what a siding-off restoration looks like.
