Newbie from PA!

Postby akapiglet » Mon Jun 15, 2015 2:13 am

Hello all!! Just taking a moment to introduce myself. I'm 43 year's young and live in north central Pa. I have a B.S. in HVAC Design and have worked in construction my entire adult life. When I was a kid my parents used to buy homes in need of repair and fix them up to either rent or sell. This was long before flipping homes became popular. I am a daddy's girl and whenever my dad was working on projects I had to be right next to him and do everything he was, thank goodness he's a patient man! He would take the time to show me the how's and why's and proper way to complete the projects. Mom was often not amused with this since dad would allow me to operate the power tools that sometimes I could barely pick up. Dad made sure I was supervised and taught me how to safely operate the equipment. Sadly at least to me my parents moved to Florida about 17 years ago and with them went all the great woodworking tools dad had. But over the years I have compiled my own inventor of tools there not as nice as dad's but they will work just fine.

So with all that said lets talk about what I hope to achieve. I purchased an old camper frame and it was delivered today. The trailer if I had to guess it's probably an early 80's model. It's in decent shape its got some bumps bruises and surface rust but nothing that can't be beat out or brushed/sanded a good coat of paint will be required.I plan to build a foamie hybrid, I need to keep the weight as low as possible. This may not wined up being a camper but a tiny foamie home, how's that for a crazy idea?

I will be towing the trailer with my beloved 1992 Mazda B2600i 4x4 which is similar to a Ford Ranger only it's sturdier. Due to how old my truck is I don't want to add unneeded stress to the engine or the frame. The truck is original with the exception of normal wear and tare parts and it only has around 155,000 miles on it, not bad for the age.

I realize that the frame is Huge for a tiny or a foamie.

Trailer Spec's

The overall length tip of tongue to outside of rear bumper width 17'-6-0" x 7'-7".
Flat working area 13'-7"L x 7'-7"W x 19-1/2"H
Single heavy duty axle with 7.00x15" tires.
