Hello from Menasha WI

Postby Sandra A » Thu Jun 11, 2015 6:40 am

HI I am Sandy and new to the this kind of glamping. I haven't gone camping for at least 10 years. Other than sleeping in my van with a mattress in back a few times. Tents are just to much work and I am getting to old to try and get up off the ground anymore.
I found a Retro Ride TD on craigslist last weekend and was praying it hadn't gotten sold already. YIPPEE! I got it and can't wait to rock & roll. Hit the road! I just have to learn how to back it up now. I live on a HWY so it is a challenge to get across the 4 lanes without blocking traffic. But I am getting better already. Thank God but had a guy get out and moved it backing in yesterday. I got to flustered when the I had 4 lanes of cars not being able to get through. :?
My new TD is hitting the road this weekend. Off to Ohio for a meeting on Saturday and the rest of the time I am going to be Glamping. A new word for me sense I have been reading more about TD's & TTT's. I don't have a camera so can't do any pic posting but that is on my wish list for my next purchase. OK that is after I get my TD all set up. I am so lucky the guy that bought it over a year ago never even had it out on the road. Other than to drive it from the manufacturer to his home. He hadn't gotten an spare tire or even registered it or put on a license plate. So I got insurance and the major things taken care of now. OK so I bought the tire and a clasp thingy but can't put it on myself. So for now it is just going to have to be held down with a make do cord and lock. Hope nobody thinks they need a spare tire to bad because it will have to do.
Can't wait to meet some of you soon. I was hoping to stop by and check out some of your TTT's & TD's this weekend but not sure were the gathering is at. :NC Oh well maybe next year God willing and the Devil doesn't interfere.

Welcome Sandy to this great site You might want to find a big parking lot like Wally world or Home depot and practice the backing up thing just remember you turn opposite of the way you want to go Some say put your hand at 6 o'clock on the steering wheel and turn in the direction you want to go. Well good luck and enjoy the camping trips you have planed this summer.

Suggestions and ideas abound among the 153 tiny trailers that will be at the Crossroads Of America gathering at Spencer IN in JUly.

You need to plan on attending as this national gathering only occurs on the odd years. Here is a link

Hi Sandra,

Welcome aboard! My wife and I have a Retro ride that we bought a couple of years ago. We have had very good experiences with it. It is a 5 x 8 camper and pulls very well.

Hi Sandy, Buy a truck driver a cup of coffee and he'll teach you to back up a trailer.
Enjoy, Chris
