Two days until launch!

Postby daveesl77 » Thu Jun 18, 2015 5:07 pm

Well, wish us luck, but by Saturday morning we hope to have Conch Fritter on the road heading up to NY for grandson's HS graduation. It'll be a 2,600 mile RT.

We have her pretty much packed now, spare tire purchased, things tied down and tested over and over. We'll do a weight test tomorrow with her full load. I'll take a bunch of photos and will probably share as we go (if possible).

It'll be nice to get out of this insane heat, upper 90's for past week and today hit 101 in the shade with 85% humidity! Yippeeeeee (not)

Hi Dave, The only worry I would have at this point is how much fun I'm going to have and how many tours I'll have to give and meet new friends. That's why you need to leave town.
Enjoy, Chris

We took her over to the truck scales last night, fully loaded. Not sure exactly what it weighs, as the scale lady said it was so light it did not activate the scales, even pulling it around to a couple of platforms. She said she thought it might be 1,340# as she saw that number briefly on her computer screen. That is probably about right as I figured about 1,200 or so. Whatever, at least it is well below the max. The scale minimum is 1,700#

Hey, Dave, totally off topic -- is your avatar one of the Chaco Canyon sites?

Good luck with your trip. We are doing about the same distance this week heading off to celebrate my mother in laws 90th birthday. Enjoy the graduation of your grandson I think he will be over the moon with your appearance.

For June, yes that is Pueblo Bonito at Chaco. I love climbing onto the cliff before dawn and watching the sunrise. We'll probably be back out there this fall. Chaco is one of my favorite places in the world.
