Installed the LEDs from another trailer. They are switched at the light strip AND at the door.




Total of 6 LED strips only uses 2 amps (per meter)

Used a 1200# shelf bracket attached to the frame flanked by two 200# shelf brackets screwed into the wood wall.




Added a ¾" 11-ply (left-over) for the shelf





Added the window shaker





With the AC extended out beyond the hatch




With the AC ready for transport......used 550 cord to eyebolts - 1 goes down and secures the bottom, 1 goes up and secures the top.....2 different cords in case 1 slips or loosens (don't expect a breakage)

Decided to go with heavier eye-bolts due to the rough oilfield roads I sometimes travel on......the originals are on the R, the new are on the L (3-½" long)




Found an easier way of installing eye-bolts.....use a paint can opener, fits just right




Also doubled the number to reduce individual stress and provide better angles

Mounted them with U-bolts on my ladder racks (the reason for the ladder racks). You can see the space between the panel and the roof. You can also see how white the roof is after painting it. The roof vent you see opens between the 2 panels. While painting, I goofed and got some on the lower lip of the vent. Was initially going to scrape off, then I realized last night, I had left vent open when I saw the white strip pointing up. Now, I'm leaving the white strip as another indicator of position of vent.



Used a ½" electrical conduit pipe, painted white, to run my wires. Used 4 conduit clamps, also painted white, and used the current skin screws to hold in place.

Decided to put a pice of scrap rubber between the pipe and the top rail to prevent chafing of the wires.



Attached to the battery with 25 amp fuse (as directed in instructions, yes, I read them when it comes to electrical)




The beauty of the MPPT controller is found in the ability to charge even when thunderstorms and rain (middle picture)

Used a file holder from Office Depot to hold the various Owner's Manuals




Looked for awhile before finding these at Target in the bath supply area. The top one holds extra fuses and outlet tester. The bottom one will probably hold cell phones or extra "whatevers"

Question, what is preventing your AC from falling out of the opening when in use? Sorry if I missed it. I just made my shelf yesterday for my AC and was going to use drawer slides.

Nothing.....hasn't been a problem, yet......I don't stick out as far as on my house windows.....still trying to figure out the insulation surrounding, may just use a blanket....

I was going to use slides but didn't have the supports in the right place for angle supports (failure on my planning)

Used 1-½ x 1-½ 14 ga box tubing for the sleeve, cut 5" in length. Will use 1-¼ x 1-¼ 14 ga box tubing for the bed frame, the ends will slip inside the sleeves. Currently not looking at fold up.....will simply pull out and lay on top...

Had to modify my bed frame attachments as the curve was going to prevent the mattress from resting against the wall. So I cut the sides back.......



However, this was going to dig into the mattress itself, so decided to cut it all back to the bracket itself....




With the bed frame attached........





This should give me enough room to add a plywood platform. then a 4" Memory Foam mattress (getting old in my old age.....bones feel it more and more)

The nice part of having a welder is being able to change plans......the old plan (see above posts) resulted in a downward angle which could result in rolling off bunk. Using a 1-¼" insert (~ 4-6") was used to weld to as another 1-½" tubing was slid in and angled upwards





This resulted in a level platform




I used a 3" inflatable camping mat from Costco (<$40)




In traveling mode, the boards rest on the two 6" stubs and secured.

you brought up a good point, so I went to work on it. I used a 1x1.5 " by 26" oak strip. Since it is permanently attached to the AC unit (in the window frame slot), I just slide it straight back without worrying of going too far.


The gaps are closed with a towel.

Starting to get things cleaned up. CFO required certain amenities, "yes, ma'am"




This one gives a better pic of how using an insert allowed me to angle the supports upwards, thereby keeping the sleeper from rolling out.

this is a great bed idea and a hole heck of a lot cheaper and easier then my beds were to build!
