Thanks for the great suggestions.

Had to fill (GS) miscuts around handle insert & that is done. I have knife-cut bevels along the edges and will sand it to a smooth bevel (hehe, fat chance) to see if that is workable. If not I like the idea of the sanding board & will use that. The door is all done other than canvas application & hardware so we will see how it turned out later today.

Did enough sanding so that it looks good enough for me. What do you think ? Was easier than I thought to do a decent job with a beveled edge with almost full 1/2 inch left in center (but I did remove the Dow printing which always has to be spackled).

Ready for canvas if I decide not to touch it up a bit more...

Looks flush to the frame in the pics. Are you saying that the edges or beveled and the center is still raised? I can't tell from the pics, but it looks good either way.

Yes, it is just shy of half an inch thicker in the center and all the areas next to wood have been beveled down even to 1.5 inches thick. Came out much nicer than my negative self thought but it's far from perfection. "Looks about right" for me

It is noticeable when shadows are cast from the edges but still looks pretty good regardless. Will give it the usual vinyl spackle faring followed by sanding & perforation prior to canvassing. I left about 1/4 inch plus space on each gap in doorway in the rough in except on the bottom where I may need to avoid canvas overlapping canvas but instead butt join them since space is tighter (no biggy). Need to GS glue in the outer door frame after I do "the mix" on the pieces not already coated and the cut ends of all.

Well, with much fear for the outcome, today I did the door verticals glue-up after checking & adjusting for level, true & fit. Dry wall screws up thru floor hold bottom in place. Hope it comes out OK or my door won't work so well.

EDIT: added a shot of the last piece of flashing - had to wait for the roof to be straightened adequately by the galley-door-frame since it came with substantial cupping in the center of the panel.

So lets go to the pix:

Don't forget the inside door trim ... You can leave a little reveal to make it look nice .

Which inside trim is that ? I was going to trim off the Great Stuff beard even with the canvas, run a bead of caulk, do some touch up paint and call it done

Same for the window inside finish trim

I do still have to do the top part & bottom seal stop of the door frame but those fit so tight, no clamps or tape are needed, so GS is all it needs for a permanent install.

Edit: BTW, the verticals you see stick out into the interior by about 1/4 inch (1.5 + .75 = 2.25) less the canvas thickness.

The screws are actually there to hold the flashing against the foam while the caulk I squirted under there dries & hopefully makes the flashing stick - fixing a bubble where the Gripper failed to stick like in the last ooopssie. The screws will be removed and the whole thing faired with vinyl spackle like dry-wall. Will also do the same thing to the loose flashing in the final blooper, as well.

Foam makes it easy to fix -- if you do it before you canvas.

This morning I installed the window so all the dust from sanding does not go inside and it has to be faired in anyway since it becomes an integral part of the foam & canvas surface after installation. Also cleaned up accumulated messes & caulked around door frame inside & out. The caulk did stick the flashing to the foam, so the experiment was successful - will need to repeat it a number of places where the flashing did not stick.

Time to spackle the foamie to within 2 inches of it's life Boy did I ever ding up these panels along the way !! Finished the 1st coat, will sand later this PM. The openings are all closed off so as little spackle dust ends up in there as possible - stuff makes a huge mess.

Might have time to GS in the frame for the back doors too.
