Come join us on August 6,7,8 2015 in the high Sierras of central Ca for a "BEAT THE SUMMER HEAT Meet and Greet" at Baker Campground near Kennedy Meadows, Ca. ( http://www.sonorapassvacations.com/lodg ... mping.html ). This is in the Sierras off of Highway 108 just below the start of Sonora Pass in Toulumne County. It is always cooler and nicer in the summer here than in the valley or high desert !!The area features fishing, hiking, horseback rides, a store, bar, restaurant, rental cabins and more.... Baker campground is just off Hwy 108 with first come, first served and no resorvations. Camping is $20 a night. We will be setting up in camp site 19 or 30.

This is a great place for outdoor activities and one of my favorite places to camp !!

Sounds like an interesting trip. We'll try to make it. Would be nice to get up high in the sierras and enjoy a camping weekend in the cool temperatures.

This would be close for us, I'll pencil it in on the calendar and see if we can make it when it is closer to the date. To many unknowns right now for us to know for sure.

We are thinking about an annual gathering up here on the hill, To me it is toooooooo hot in the valley for a summer gathering but the summer is prime camping time. I think we have only been home one weekend in the last two months and are off again on thursday... I think a gathering in the summer in the Sierras just makes since and will try my best to get something going . I am going to talk to places like Kennedy meadows, Dardenelles and Pincrest to see what might be possible for next year.. wish us luck !!! and hope to see you in early August Joe

Joe, I am going to try my best to make it. I have two nights in Yosemite Valley Floor (Sunday and Monday) , and I'm hoping driving from Kennedy Meadows to Yosemite won't be too bad. I know there are no reservations and first come first serve at Kennedy Meadows, but what do you think my chances are of getting a site for Friday and Saturday only? All three nights plus my Yosemite nights sounds like a lot to me, and I don't care to miss that much work.

At the Dardanelle Resort they have their own primitive campgrounds and like Kennedy a store/restaurant/bar, plus just across the road is a Forest Service Campground, Chuck and Cindy (Dardanelle Resort) can be very accommodating to groups with advanced notice.

We are planning on going up on thursday and staking out a couple of sites for those arriving friday so there should be something open. i believe that it would be arround a two hour or just over drive from Kennedy to Yosimite.. About an Hour and a half if tou go over Sonora pass to Lee Vining if you are wanting to go to the upper end of Yosimite.

Hey guys Kris and I are coming too. We live in Friant on Millerton Lake so we will be driving up Friday as soon as i get off work. Kris will have the trailer and the kayaks loaded and ready to go. Can u save us a site to for friday night. Message me for info so we can firm this up. Got a new fishing rod want to try out.

Nice to see Central CA do something again.
Still building my 2nd trailer, 1st ones broke and car still recovering from last July got side swiped by a drunk in a van.

I would love to go. I will tell others around me about it.

Edit Aug. 5th: Joe, I should be up there by early afternoon on Friday. Bringing my trailer and car, and my Brother and Sister-in-Law will be joining us with their own car and tent. I look forward to meeting you.

Wow. Had a great time at BEAT THE SUMMER HEAT Meet some great people, enjoyed the great outdoors, just a little rain on Friday to take down the dust and keep the heat down!! Perfect. It is by the way " beat the summer heat" Thanks to all who attended and made the weekend and the potluck a great success !!!!!! !!!
