Helloooo from Utah

Postby springdew » Wed Jul 08, 2015 2:52 pm

Hi hi. I'm Spring and I live in Springville, Utah. When I moved here, one of my friends said I can never leave, because of my name.

I have been interested in building a vardo or a tiny house for many years, usually leaning toward a vardo. What finally tipped me all the way in favor of vardo was that I really truly want to travel, properly, as in staying in any one location for two weeks to a month, but not more than that. My family and friends live all over the country and around the world, and I want to be able to spend time with as many as possible. I love tiny houses, but don't really see them as ideal for that sort of thing.

This year I'm finally getting out of the theory phase into design and build. Thought I would build this summer, but decided to get some solid design help from someone who has done almost exactly what I want to do. Now the proposed build date is next summer, and I have time to acquire the necessary skills. If I'm lucky, I might be able to host the build as a workshop, and get help in the process.

A lot of the research I'm doing keeps leading me right back here, so I figured I may as well join! Thanks for making what you learn available and sharing so much.

Thanks! That's wild. I love Zyl's Pinafore, but this build is meant to be much smaller. I am so excited! One of my inspirations is the Lucky Penny by Lina Menard. http://www.treehugger.com/tiny-houses/l ... enard.html Hers is a lot taller than I plan, but she demonstrated it can be done light and easy with SIPs.

If you like the rounded roof you might look in the tiny house section, On page 3 of Bob's caboose shows the integral truss and wall studs framing method that proved to be a great method to keep the wiggle out of a build.
