Is this a 4x8 design

Postby Retroguy » Thu Jul 23, 2015 7:31 pm

As I continue to look at designs and since it's my first build, I think I should probably concentrate on tears that require 4x8 sheets. Do these designs and trailers seem to utilize the standard sheets. I know it's probably a ridiculous question because how can we tell without measurements. I'm just figuring you guys and girls have some sought of eye for that sought of thing.

They look to me like more or less 4x8 sides, but harder to tell width. Mine is a 4x8 for the same reason - 4x8 HF trailer, 4x8 plywood sheets, 4 foot wide aluminum - it just keep waste and costs down and make for fewer joins. A lot of folks will tell you to go 5' wide, and while I didn't follow that advice it I think for some people it is good advice. The 4' width is fairly narrow. Me and my trips are fairly short, so I don't mind the width, but if I was bigger or did longer trips or was pickier about sleeping while camping, I'd probably go with a 5' trailer and get the extra width.

Thanks for the advice. I probably will go 5x8 trailer. I will spend some time reading the forum and other websites about building. I have so many questions. I want to make sure If I design something I have access to the right size materials. I love the 58 rocket emblem too, With my budget it may have to be a plastic Hyundai badge. ;)
Stay with me guys I'm going to be a pain. :hammerhead:
