Thanks and hope so but we will see when we get caught in the first downpour :lol: Just finished putting canvas on the first door back there; used one piece of canvas wrapped it all the way around vs using two pieces of canvas (one on each side) like the other door. Much faster but probably just experience made it easier. Ordered an Astragal with weather-strip to go over the center gap, have a big roof molding to cover the bottom of the door gap, OSB floor & 2x2. The rest will be gasketed. Stainless knuckle hinges will be applied to those wood strips on outside door edge & 2x2 - the doors must weigh all of 5-8 pounds each :D

Taking a break before I do the second door - first one took around 2 hours so this next one will be done about dinner time.

It's pretty quiet in the Foamie threads this weekend... where's all the activity?

On vacation ? A fair number are out camping I am sure since there are a number of meets happening and it IS that time of year. I know I would rather be done with my TD :lol: :lol: :twisted:

It's has been getting pretty quiet during the week for a while though...

Need more paint - will continue mine after dinner & a wallyworld run - roof, front, back & doors painted ATM.

Isn't CRA this weekend?

I think Bonnie posted from there just recently on her Nookery thread.

The high temp yesterday was 74 - the low does not bear mentioning but this is Montana and we get snow every month of the year. The low this morning in West Yellowstone, MT was 41 F and I am certain that it was lower elsewhere in along the road in the park. The high today here was 84ish. :R :R

EDIT:
I like these long days. Just finished painting right as twilight turned to dark wearing a headlamp. Hope I didn't miss too many spots.

So tomorrow is all fairing and sanding after touch ups as needed. The paint did not seem all that great at filling the weave - I think Gripper would have worked just as well except perhaps the water resistance.

June snow - most years, July snow, rarely like once every 10 years, August - about every third year, the rest - every year.

Several years back we had something like 10 inches on the 14th of June and it broke off so many tree branches power went down for days & they had to call out the utility workers from all over. They had emergency composting clearance for several days and the chippers could be heard all over town.

==============================================

Checked the TD for bubbles - not showing any new ones :thumbsup: what a relief ! The small ones (finger-tip size) ironed out first pass.

Sanding and fairing is underway. A light but thorough sanding followed with another paint layer does not eliminate the weave appearance but it does knock down all the stubble & pulls. Will fair out the canvas overlaps and try fairing the entire weave with a light watery spackle coat as a test and see how it looks when painted with Gripper.

You’ll find things tighten up a bit over time , think it has to do with the paint shrinking , and foam expanding ... :thumbsup:

Did experiment with a skim coat of spackle, sanded it, painted gripper on top. Smooth finish without fabric pattern achieved. Need to sand & use a roller for the final exterior coat since the brush marks show now.

Mike, your answer is, YES, you can cover with canvas and get a smooth finish :thumbsup:
