Ive been bitten by the building bug...

Postby JenniferandPups » Mon Aug 10, 2015 12:42 am

You all are contagious. I think I'm actually going to do it...build a trailer. (Cardinal floor plan is just not going to work long term for us)

Family of 4 now. :) Eyeing the Campster12; would it be a decent first build for someone new to trailer building, but an avid home remodeler and hobbyist woodworker with a basically complete tool collection (might need some new ones, you know...because you can't start a new project without buying at least one tool...and who could pass up the excuse? ) Could do the widget with the bunks in the front, of course, but I like the idea of dropping the trailer height to help gas mileage.

And I've been skimming for good trailers on CL already...I just know I'm going to end up with a trailer in my "no man's land" soon to spur me on.

I'm falling in deep!

Welcome! We are family of 4 as well. I love seeing others of more than 2 joining and building their own trailers. It's the absolute best camping decision we have ever made.

Keep us updated on your plans and good luck!
Brian

I built mine on a 5x8 trailer and just made it an empty box. Right now I have cots inside for the 3 of us, in a pinch the same could be done for 4. When the kids (now 13) don't want to camp with me, I'll do a bed for me, or a cot and a table.

The bunk-bed cot is surprisingly sturdy! :D

Oh dear! I'm halfway through your build thread on the raindrop, Brian...what a neat idea!

Those cots look nice...I do want to do built in stuff, but that's a nice idea!

And wow, I just spend an hour (trying to get my toddler to sleep and) browsing even more!
