Very Successful trip to Yellowstone

I completed my round trip from Kansas City, Yellowstone NP, Devils Tower NP, Mt Rushmore NP and back home. Total of about 4000 miles in 12 days. MyPod performed excellent. Great mileage, easy handling and lots of notices from other campers.

I think a couple of the most interesting places I went was the Old Faithful area and the Lamar Valley. But it's really hard to choose anyplace over another, the entire park is great. Yellowstone Lake is great, as well as the mineral springs and Gibbon Falls. Good luck, I thought a week was going to be more than enough time, but even the places I went back to seemed to be different every time. Good Luck, Have Fun, and make sure you follow the guidelines for distance when viewing any of the bison, bear and others.

We just returned from Yellowstone. The Park has never been more crowded. According to a Ranger we spoke to he said that attendance this year is up 50% over last year which was up 30% over the year before. So Be prepared to wait. Some parking lots were to full to hold everyone. They even parked out on the roads entering the parking lots. I suggest going very early in the morning to those things you want to see first. By 9:30 - 10:00 AM the lots are full. If you are going to be there after school starts for most kids you may not find it a problem. You may still compete with the foreign visitors. There were a lot of them. We camped at Bridge Bay. It is central to the 2 loops around the park. It's a big place so be prepared to put on a lot of miles both on your car and your feet.

Just a warning. The new park fees went up this year. It costs 30 dollars to enter both the Tetons and Yellowstone. You can buy a combo pass for both parks for 50.00. If you are only interested in Yellowstone do not come in from the south entrance if you don't want to pay the extra 25.00 for the Tetons. They have basically made the road in from the south a toll road.

We stayed in Gros Venture in the Tetons. If you pass through the Tetons and are looking for an interesting place for photos you might check this place out. Just north of the entrance to the Gros Venture CG is a gravel road called Mormon Row. It goes for about 2-3 miles. Lots of wild life, Bison, Pronghorn and Mountain Bluebirds. I just happened to talk to the guy that cleans the restrooms and he told me about it. There are 2 areas with old barns and buildings. Early mornings have the best light.

Thanks RichGL and Woodbutcher. This is very helpful information. We are entering from the south and plan to purchase the combo pass. Mormon Row sounds like our "off the beaten path" kind of place.

My wife says she's seen that barn before . That is a cool picture

As far as entry fees, if you are near the senior age range, check on the National Park Senior Pass. the Senior pass is for 62 and over (http://www.nps.gov/findapark/passes.htm), I was expecting to pay the new $30 entry, but found out the senior pass is just $10 for a lifetime pass. From what I have found out since, with the Senior Pass, for most parks, it's free entry to any National Park and half price camping fees, Etc.

We had 3 seniors in our group. The pass got them free entry into the parks but no discount on camping in Yellowstone. Still a good deal.

Those were great pictures,and sounds like a awesome adventure.We just got back several weeks ago from Cascade Lockes Oregon,then own to Washington State MT Ranier.
We wanted to come down through Montana and hit the southern entrance of Yellowstone.They were having fires so we did not get to go.At that time we did not have our teardrop we were tent camping.But now we are going to explore with our Teardrop.PS how do you put a picture on this forum ?
