Wet bedsheets ... only dampen them if you're rushed for time , and the weather is HOT and windy making the glue dry too fast ... Just stretch the bed sheets on over the glue and starting in the center , smooth the sheet down to the foam with your hand ... easy !!! If you get bubbles and wrinkles , just keep stretching and smoothing till it's all flat ... ;) Extra pair of hands whilst covering makes it much easier ... even if just bed sheets ...

Hey GPW, I can't remember how long its been now, 4? 5 yrs now? No major problems, just that buckling of the canvas. N o, I have never attempted to fix that.
Had to replace a hinge from the wood part on the bottom of my hatch area. That problem is from the wood, and not the foam. Now that I have said that, I think its the hinge not even the wood's problem. If I do in fact take the foamie to visit the mouse, I can give a better update for its age.

Do it in sections. Place the sheet on the top and make sure it's lined up properly. Then roll it up towards the middle. Leave the roll sitting in the middle of the roof.

Then glue the first 3 feet from the roll, outwards. Unroll the sheet, and smooth it out. then pull the unglued sheet back, and glue the rest of that side. Smooth it out.

Repeat for the other side of the trailer.

That's just what we did. Fold it into sections and smooth it down.
We used squeegees for that. :D

Although it’s entirely possible to cover a trailer by yourself ( did both of mine by myself ) It’s a Heck of a lot easier with help ... True !!! Much better if one person is handling the glue and one handles the canvas... I used blow gun darts like big Pins to hold the material on one side while worked the other side ... ;)

Ill definatly get help for the sides because i want those perfect.
The roof is purely for waterproofing and will be skinned so i can practice away ;)
As long as i get the proceedure right thats all that realy matters.
Im doing the reverse of most foamies and having the seams on the roof for the roof to wall join so ive got clean lines where its seen

Dale , and we can take a leaf from the RV builders book and cover that seam on the roof with some “Decorative Trim” ... Something like this which Big Duck has on sale ... Webbing ... Imagine the tough Straight seam edge that would make ... and look like it’s there on purpose ... 8)

50 years ago late yesterday evening ... Hurricane Betsy hit here .... I was around for that , at home .... What a mess , power was off for two weeks ,city flooded (again) , neighbors actually resorted to helping each other ... :duh: ... Had we known about trailers then , things would have been much more enjoyable (being somewhere else ) . It was one of the more “memorable” storms we’ve been through ... reminding us once again of why we built a FoamStream ... :o
Tomorrow is the “peak” of the Hurricane season , and so far this year we’ve been Super Lucky with No storms ... from here on out, chances decrease drastically ... :dancing :P And with that things are starting to cool off from what was a HOT summer for us , so I can begin planning on doing some interior upgrades to the FS ... :D And giving the outside a really Good CLEANING ... :frightened:

Ah, Betsy. I was a little kid. My dad & grandfather were out of town on business & couldn't get back in time. The womenfolk rode out the storm at my grandparents' house. My biggest memories were being told, over & over again, "Stay away from the windows," & my mom pinning paper tags on us with our address. Presumably that was in case we got separated or perhaps floated away. As if that paper tag & the ink on it would survive a hurricane?

The other thing I remember is our crushed shed/garage. My parents were worried about the state of our possessions in our upstairs duplex but I only cared about the bikes in the shed. When they finally pried it open we found the bikes inside, mostly unharmed, all pushed against each other in the middle of the shed. By all appearances it was only the Schwinn's holding the shed up.

KZ’ ... me too , 16 at the time ... I remember looking out the window (quickly) and seeing the roof blow clean off Dad’s workshop , Some bits we found blocks away , never did find the roof ... :frightened:
