DOH, I had it completely wrong - the caulk only is to hold the flashing to the foam & ALL the wood is for clamping. No wonder -- I thought the caulk was coming out from under to wood that was being glued in pic CAM00868s.jpg & could not understand why you added wood and flashing and the "drip edge".

I just order in my LED lighting today. I got (10) 20" interior lights, (4) yellow clearance lights, (4) red clearance lights, (6) white porch lights, (2) tail lights and (2) license plate lights. A grand total of $73.62.

I got a question for your tail lights, since I am shopping them currently. I see you bought the tail lights with amber turn signal. Question: Are you going to use the turn signal and if yes, how are going to connect it as standard trailer connection does not provide for such turn signal to work properly. I got a question for your tail lights, since I am shopping them currently. I see you bought the tail lights with amber turn signal. Question: Are you going to use the turn signal and if yes, how are going to connect it as standard trailer connection does not provide for such turn signal to work properly. Good question. Yes there would appear to be a problem with the wiring. The car I am planning to pull this trailer with is a Opel which has the European style rear lights. It would pose a problem though if I wanted to pull it with something else. I am sure you could just wire the red and amber lights together to flash together or just leave the amber unhooked and be a dummy.

Thanks for your response, but my Nissan Pathfinder also has amber turn lights, but that does not mean the trailer 7-pin connector wiring has separate turn sigmal wires like you showed in the diagram above. Does your Opel has 7-pin connector has such exact wiring style as on your diagram, i.e. was the car brought from Europe then? I do not thinnk that any car in North America with 7-pin wiring harness has the turn signals separate wiring allowed for ...

In the US at least, I think you will find that if a light is present, whether it is mandatory or not, or redundant, it must be operational to be legal. Okay, probably a technicality in most traffic stop situations, but for a VIN or WOF inspection they might gig you on a dummy or faulty light that doesn't light up. Just saying.

If you have the separate amber turn signal then you usually have to get a converter to operate the trailer lights properly. The converter has diodes in it so that you do not get feed back from your turn signals or brake lights. Or you could wire the pins as shown above if you want to have amber lights on the trailer as well. But when the trailer has amber lights and the TV does not then it is a bit more involved. Not sure how yet, but I believe it does involve relays.

My TV Nissan Pathfinder 2012 has separate amber turn lights and my present fiberglass trailer does not have amber turn lights. I have standard OEM Nissan 7-pin North American harness without any converter and it works fine with the trailer ligths.. .

That is because the wiring harness on the vehicle has diodes in it to keep the turn signals from back feeding back through the brake light circuit and visa versa.

For anyone that may want to run separate turn signals on their trailers with conventional combined brake/signal wiring.

This is the product you will need, a Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter http://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and ... 56196.html . If you are using it for a trailer and not for towing a vehicle you do not need the recommended diodes. I think I will use this one so that I can use the trailer easily between different vehicles.

Well being off for a week has help out a lot. Still not getting the trailer time I was hoping for, but at least I am getting some headway. Before canvasing I have to get the door jamb in on the passenger side. To get that done I have to get the wiring in first. I had already made the cut outs for the wiring and wiring boxes so all I had to do was get the boxes glued in and the wiring ran.

Once the wiring was ran through I went ahead and installed the channel cutout to hide the channel. I use caulking for replacing these cutouts. Works great and I am liking it more and more as a glue for foam.

I also got the outside door jamb made and the door sill installed. I need to cut the inside door jamb pieces tomorrow and I hope to get it installed too.

I had some issue with my dry wall trim that I used along the rear hatch edge. It was a paper coated edging and it looks as if the Gripper was too dry when I installed it to get a good bond to the paper portion and the body. Depending on the weather I would get a bulge along the paper portion. I went ahead and cut the paper part out and used spackle to fair out the cutout. I have used this edging along the top and front, no issues there.
