New item which might have shower potential

Postby lrrowe » Mon Aug 24, 2015 7:18 pm

I just came across this new shower device called RinseKit.
Cost - about $90.
It has limits now when it comes to hot water or filling in the field, but the FAQ's promise new accessories coming to address this.
But for me, right now, I have a new garden sprayer for $10 that I can use. But this does have intriquing potential

OK - I watched the video and read the FAQs. All I can figure is that it must have some sort of bladder or air chamber inside that is compressed when you fill from a standard spigot.

It weighs 9 pounds empty which seems like a lot for a plastic pail and a short length of hose, fittings, and sprayer.

One of the future accessories, the Field Fill Kit, will enable the use of a bicycle pump to pressurize. Not sure that would be as efficient as a garden sprayer when there is no access to a pressurized water source.

I did not catch the weight...yes it is a lot. And you might be right about the garden sprayer. It sure is simplier and less expensive.
Just thought I would post b/c it was a new product.

Bob - Did not intend to sound negative and I appreciate all leads to information. I am just a bit cynical and suspicious when I see slick advertisements and videos that skimp on details. Makes me feel like I am about to be fleeced.

In this case I have also had to inflate a motorcycle tire with a thumb size bicycle pump and it wasn't easy or fun. I don't think the two gallon sprayer would be enough to wash off the sweat after pumping it up. My garden sprayer only takes about a half dozen strokes.

How about this:
5 gallon bucket
Gamma seal screw top lid
A few pipe fittings
Length of clean garden hose
Tire valve from auto store

Fill bucket with desired temp water, screw on Gamma lid. Use valve to add pressure (bike pump, CO2 cartridge, air compressor) hose picks up water from bottom of the bucket and sprays out nozzle. When not in use, bucket can be used for lots of other (clean) things, and the hose could be stored inside. $30 tops, if you have to buy all the parts. (except compressor :-)

Oh, I was not posting this to show the geatest shower ever. In fact we have had many other topic strings on who uses what for a shower. And there are many ideas and solutions out there. This was meant just to share new ides/products with others. And your idea is a different way and if the post topic wants to take a turn in this direction (shower ideas again), that is very ok with me.

Sorry, I didn't mean to - ha - shower on your post :-) I just looked at the link and got a little frustrated about what they are charging for so little.
I apologize.

No, no, no, do not take my post as a jab or complaint. I did not mean it that way.

OK good, I tapped it out real quick on a break and I realized afterwards it sounded snarky. While that is my normal mode, it's not directed at you. It's probably sour grapes that someone managed to monetize an idea that I thought I came up with.
I think I might even have all the parts I would need to make it in the shop.

Sounds interesting. How about making one and sharing the results with us.

Find a black bucket to make it solar. I have one black bucket and you can't have it. :D

Seems interesting other then fact it takes pressurized water supply to fill that is not a luxury where I camp.... Would be better if it also had a way to fill it (screw cap) with warm water and use air pump to pressurize... Guess we are back to garden sprayer concept...

Does not seem as good (for practicality in primitive camp) as my 5 gallon metal bucket of warm water, hung from tree (inside privacy enclosure) with kitchen sink sprayer on end of hose for shower control... 5 gallons is usually enough for two people to shower...

Seem sort of a one day, single use item for me...
