Hatch alignment

I think this question was lost in my othe post about my hatch.

How do you keep the galley hatch centered in the opening if you use a hurricane hinge?

I was thinling of useing some nylon tapered blocks at the top & bottom.

Any other ideas?

I just stuck a screw in one end to act as a stop. I trimed off a little of the end of the flange common to the hatch ( just the part that is up in the 'C'). You don't even notice the screw.

I wouldn't be suprised if it is the exact same hinge.

Rainjer...I'm thinking about making a couple of small wedges of polycarb/nylon, but a hardwood like maple will work...attach them to the sides up near the hinge on the interior wall, a low profile wedge will center the galley hatch as it closes and no visible screw on the exterior, but Gage is right, it wouldn't be that noticeable, just an idea....Doug

If you want to use a screw, but don't want it to show, use a grub screw. I would look like you had designed it that way from the start.
