Cover for something smaller than an R-Pod...

Postby Hennesseystealth » Sun Sep 06, 2015 8:19 pm

I am trying to find a cover for my camper but it seems to be in limbo land as far as size. The smallest one I have found online is for a 16.5' R-Pod but my camper is a lot smaller, but wider including the fenders. Anyone have a recommendation for something 10' long (12' if I include the storage box), about 5' from the trailer up (6.5' from ground up), and 7' wide (5' + 2 12" fenders).

Thanks

Would something like this work?

"Little Guy Tear Drop All Weather Trailer Cover 5-Wide Silver Shadow 5X10"

ETA: Little Guy sells them, also. http://teardropshop.com/products/all-weather-cover

Very nice, but very pricey.

I was hoping to find one close to the price of the R-Pod 16.5' on Amazon at $134. :(

Yeah. The Little Guy covers are, I think, PahaQue Custom. That would account for the price. If you are trying for cheap, maybe you could make do with a cover for a pop up camper. Would the extra width of the pop up cover make up for the shorter height? You'd be missing the door opening, of course. Polypro version can be 1/2 the cost of the Rpod covers. Might be a feasibility for a Benroy type shape... maybe?

Look at car covers. My wife bought one off of Amazon for her son's teardrop. Don't ask which one! I think it was about fifty bucks and was well made. She added a couple of reinforcing points where the hurricane hinge protrudes.

For ours, I found a returned R-Pod cover on Amazon ($80?) and cut it down to fit:

I buy a small SUV Cover from an autoparts store. PepBoys always seem to have a good selection. I believe I paid about $60 the last one I bought. It's not form fitted but covers everything including the tongue with mounted tool box and the fenders on my Silver Shadow 5x10 Little Guy.

Where do you plan on storing the teardrop, inside or outside?

If inside, I purchased a van cover for the teardrop, which is stored in a machine shed. Cover is for dust and bird dropping management.

If you are planning on storing outside, then invest in a top notch cover.

Outside. If I had inside storage, I'm not sure I would even use a cover since the weather here in NorCal isn't that bad and not a dust bowl.
