Here is another pic of the rear doors open with the galley on the interior right door. We can cook
inside or outside. When the doors are open, I built two sliding screen doors to have a completely
open view out the back. It works great.

I also installed 2.5" fender extensions and mud flaps after we got back. We had to drive 6 miles on
a wet dirt road in the bad lands at <= 15 miles/hour. OR, dirt clumps would literally be raining on the
solar panels mounted on the roof.

We spent 5 days here in the Sawtooths. We saw no one except two cow elk and a few marmots.

That's the best use of the space on two rear doors I've seen in a while, . . . maybe ever. I may need to do some copying in the off-season.

I don't know what the laws are, but if there was a rear end collision I would think the cylinder would be rammed through the relatively thin rear door.

isn't it safer to be on the rear door, because if you get rear ended by a semi and its on the tongue it could break your ball,
the tongue would drop under your tow Vehicle and now the 5 gal fireball is between you and the front of trailer.....
I say let the guy who rear ends you enjoy the propane first ....

You missed my point. Perhaps it was poorly made....

I meant I would not be worried about the propane cylinder at all as in a rear end collision the cylinder would be punched through the rear door by the impact. There would be little danger of the cylinder being crushed as it is much stronger than any door I have ever seen on any trailer. Short of an armored car. Even if the cylinder valve was open and the hose severed there is little danger when a modern OPD equipped cylinder is used.

Propane cylinder that fell onto a highway and was struck by a vehicle.....

What I don't know is if there are any state or other laws about where portable cylinders can or can not be placed.

Not the same, but I was thinking of mounting a couple of small gas cans on either side of the spare tire at the rear of our CTC.



But before I drilled the first mounting hole, I looked again at possible mounting locations.

I ended up putting them on the tongue. I figure when and if I add propane, I'll mount the tank higher, above the gas cans, similar idea to how Salsadog's is mounted.



I just really didn't like the thought of someone rearending us!

Brackets are from Princess Auto - ATV jerry can holders. Gas cans are 2 1/2 gals.

Thanks, I would like to reiterate the importance of supporting the door to remove any extra weight
from the hinges, particularly when bouncing down roads. I replaced the interior skins and cut a rabbit
on the bottom of each plywood panel. That allowed the skin (panel) to protrude past the door frame
and rest on the door jamb. I just sanded it to gently slide onto the jam when closing. This takes ALL
weight off the hinges; better than new.

One thing we did not expect on our first trip was the amount of attention our cct attracted; acquiring
minds want to know. One woman in a jeep, literally followed us off a highway, onto the forest road
and checked our trailer for about 45 minutes.

When camped on some BLM land by Dinosaur National Monument, I stepped outside in my boxers and
slippers to brush my teeth. I heard a noise and walked around the front of the trailer. A couple with a
fifth wheeler had stopped and were taking pictures of us. They just stayed there, until I decided to walk
over and invite them for coffee. They then drove away; my coffee isn't that bad?

It must be because of the 2 tone paint and the windows. It looks great.
Thank god mine attracts almost zero attention, with mine people can't seam to figure out what exactly it is ....
so they tend to stay away....the stealth campers even have a hard time....to figure it out....
on the side of the highway, shopping malls, beach no problem so far....

I built the rack system myself. I was looking for a system that would not require welding and be modular. It's
constructed out of 1/8"x2"x2" aluminum angle for the vertical rails and 1/8"x 3"x3" square tube for the support
brackets. The vertical rails are bolted through the door interior bracing and skin with stainless steel carriage
(ss) bolts. I used ss bolts for the support brackets to eliminate rust streaking and easy unbolting if that is
necessary in the future?

If needs change, it's simply a matter of moving the existing support brackets or fabricating new ones?

The next project is sourcing or fabricating a light ~ 9' aluminum ladder. Maybe a tree stand ladder? I plan on
storing it under the floor. I want one to clean the solar panels on the roof.
