Hello all. My name is Tom and my wife is PeggySue. I discovered this forum last year soon after I was hit by Teardrop Fever from seeing a picture of one on the internet. So this year we decided that instead of a new deck, new bathroom, or new garden, or any of the dozens of house upgrades we like, our summer project this year would be a woody teardrop. Here are a few pics of out project. It was 95 days from first drawing a profile on plywood and cutting it out, to the "camp-ready" state it is now. We made a point to do something everyday- whether it was an 10 hour day, or just 10 minutes to glue and clamp something. Although it will probably never be finished with little details and upgrades- I called it done this week. I started with the Wyoming Woody profile and plans, but soon strayed from them to fit my build style and needs. Final weight is 950 lbs.
We've done a decent amount of camping in the past years ago- tent and trailer, and we're ready to get back into it. One of my passions for almost 40 years is radio controlled airplanes and the teardrop is perfect for that because I can fit a few planes in it and camp at the flying field when we have our big contest and funfly weekends. I also added a couple extra circuits to handle ham radio gear (de N3UJM) and have a 100 watt solar panel to help the batteries.
Thanks to everyone here for all the knowledge you've shared. It made it a heck of a lot easier.
