Heres what it looks like after a 2nd coat.
Not sure how many ill need but at least 3 plus the primer.
I painted the canvas with tb2 when i appied it so the paint isnt soaking in as much as if i hadnt.

The colours as close to "Nato Green" as dulux make.

Looks great!!! ... and it looks like the grain of the canvas is holding up just fine. I like.

You dont know how many weeks ive been mulling over colours to scared to pull the pin on one.
This is brighter than i origonaly wanted but i think it will pop alot more with the stainless ,aluminium and black parts to come.
Olive drab was my other choice but would have looked way to boring i think

Not as happy with rhe 3rd coat infact it was a disaster.
To much residual water in the roller slieve that ended up raining runs all over it with the slightest pressure and running down over the varnish underneath.
Heres another teaser... this is going on the upper hatch.
I was going to keep it to myself but im just gee,d up to fit it.

The straight edge gets fixed under the hurricane hinge and the point is bent around the hatch curve lining up with the latch..... but wait theres more!

Its going to look a little bit "wtf" is that when its finished anyway and im working round a beat up korean war mash bus kinda crossed with a early chev coupe kinda sorta type of... its ever evolving but im a big thinker and its how i do my best work.

Disaster averted with the wet roller and runs.
To make matters worse a cat or cats had a party on it last night and to my dread i had to sand it.
I used p240 silicone carbide and just "whispered "it over to not damage the all important canvas texture.
Given i was adding a 4th coat of a thick expensive ($90.00 for 4 liters) its designed to make surfaces look smooth i was paranoid it would look crap but its actualy come up perfect from a distance and pretty good up close.

Apreciate your views on the aluminium sheet i had cut for the hatch. it looks a bit envalopish but the whole hatch was going to be this as almost a year ago i scored 5 sheets of this stuff and its going to be floated over the roof/front but im liking the green and i think with the mill finish and stainless additions it will work better.
Im considering getting a logo cut into the "envelope top" as tracy calls it so the green or another back ground colour is highlighted.
I get verry cheap rates on water jet cutting as i use it all the time and i can book it up to this big job im on as well.
Thoughts please

I guess I was holding judgement on the flap until the bigger theme becomes more apparent. It sounds like it could be a really cool application, using the textured Ally to contrast with the green... if it is not over done and kept subtle.

Not sure I would bother using both the canvas an ally; maybe just a good overlap where they join. How are you going to trim the edges?

Perhaps less pointy flap and more of a three barbed spear (like the deco designs Doug Hodder is using on his MobilGlide interior)?

What will the front look like, Ally all the way to the bottom of the front wall?

Rather than cut out a logo and create more opportunity for moisture to get under the skin, maybe paint the logo? (I was going to say, or matching color vinyl decal, but that probably wouldn't work too well with the textured surface.)

Adding a 1 inch wide black stripe between the ally and paint might make all the world of difference; either trim or paint.
