Bad New illness Has Ended my Building - Need Opinions

Postby ukuleleblues » Tue Sep 08, 2015 4:37 pm

Got sick, almost died, got two operations, still on the med. Have to sell house, boat and partially built teardrop. Take a look at the pics https://sites.google.com/site/teardropcamping/home/progress.

I have the:

5x 10 Trailer
Spare tire
12 volt converter&charger, 110V breaker box/12V fuse box
110v to 12 V inverter
Steel fenders
3 burner propane stove
heavy duty drawer runners for the stove and cooler
side/back running lights.
Stop lights
Fan /Vent for the roof.
12 V switches.
5 or 6 12 Volt LED lights for inside
12V LEDs for outside "Porch" lights
12 Volt wire.
110V outlets in and outdoor
110V wire

1/8 birch for inside
1/4 ply for about 1/3 of roof
5/8 ply to finish shelves
Blue foam insulation for walls.
4 windows
Door Hinges
Vinyl for the floor of the galley
Other odds and ends

I don't have the hatch hinge, or Hatch hardware or door latches.

I paid $1000 for the custom trailer and Spare. I have about $3,200 stotal o far in all materials and hardware (I was logging the costs). If you were me would you:

1. Sell it in pieces.
2. Sell it as a whole

3. What do you think as a whole someone would pay for it just a guesstimate I got to get rid of it. Soon

First, sorry to hear of your health problems. Hope you land on your feet and can someday be a teardropper. If I was in your place I would first try and sell everything as a package. While that could be difficult because you need to find someone with building skills that likes your design. I would be very surprised if you recover the money you have already spent. But try and see what happens. Let people make offers and see what you get and can live with.

If you have to part it out, the wood pieces will be basically worthless. The other parts may be attractive to other builders. Selling the parts will take more time.

Good luck, I don't know if any of this will help, but it's that best I got.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. If we were closer and if you decided to part it out, I am sure I would be interested in many of the items. I wish the best for you going forward.
