Construction Plan & 1/6th Scale Model 14'x8' THOW

Postby kriellian » Mon Sep 28, 2015 3:13 pm

“Bear Necessities” or “Cram•alot In”
Eventually will choose one name!

Preliminary Construction Plans
This will be for full timing, following the seasons across the country. Plan to start construction after Columbus Day, have it weather tight by Thanksgiving and the interior to be completed by Memorial Day, 2016; located just outside of Knoxville, TN.

Overall dimensions are 14’ x 8’ (includes roof overhang) on a 12’ x 6’ 3500 lb GVW Tarter trailer; One ft cantilevered overhang front and rear, 8” on either side. TV is 2002 Silverado 2500 HD.
Exterior framing of 2 x 3’s 24” on center with 2 ½” Formular 150 XPS insulation, sitting on 2 x 4 framed 5/8” subfloor, all bolted/lag screwed to frame. Siding will be in layers: ¼ inch ext ply to studs, covered with Tyvek wrap; ¼ x 2” battens about every 16 inches, then ¼ “ ply finished “board and batten” style (“Rain Screen Wall” as described by Dee Williams, Portland Alternative Dwellings).
Gable roof design...still debating whether to use metal or asphalt rolled roofing....suggestions?
Door and windows are new, RV style; picked up when I was originally going to build the Glenn-L Acapulco truck camper.
Accommodations will be full size Murphy bed built as T C Toyer’s Log Cabin build thread; Airhead composting toilet and 32" x 32" standing shower unit with “garden sprayer” hot water; “kitchen” of dual burner propane stove and 15” x 15” sink, Yeti cooler...maybe small frig; “modular” seating arraignment (still working on that idea). Interior walls ply paneling (bead board, luan paneling....still deciding).
Electrical will be 12v through out, dual battery bank with 150 W solar panel; 3, 110 v circuits for on grid use: one for 5K BTU wall mounted a/c unit above Murphy bed, one street and one curb side. Have a Yamaha EF3000iSEB Inverter Generator (dual fuel) and propane mounted in bed of truck.

Height: Floor to top of ridge vent: 8’-7”; Ground to top of ridge vent: 10’-4” (as drawn but I have over 2’ of wiggle room).

Thoughts - ideas - suggestions?

Thanks

The Murphy bed will be a full size mattress so "technically" two - currently just me....when asked about hotel reservations it's always "queen size bed, no kids, no pets"!
Am heading out today with lumber list in hand, will have sub-floor done this week.
