Postby Lucy25 » Tue Sep 29, 2015 7:37 pm

Hi my name is Lucy. I am a clinical exercise physiologist, I recently finished my first build. I made a video tour of my tear. You can watch it at: https://youtu.be/us8o8eNV9To

I have posted several pictures. I found the forum to be very helpful during the planning and building process. Thank you to all who contribute!!! 136340

Welcome Lucy. Great build and great vid. I was noticing in your video that it almost looks like the galley has a drop floor? Or perhaps the sleeping area is built up to provide some storage? I am still fleshing out my final design and really liked some of your ideas, and would love to hear more about the actual build.

Thank you. The sleeping area is built up and I do have two storage units under the bed. My trailer is only 4 ft wide and I wanted a queen size bed so I built up over the wheels to get a 5ft wide camper. The storage areas are nice for the kind of things you don't access much. Since the video I have added more hooks, hung my coffee mugs and travel guitar and added details like paper towel holder to the ceiling of the hatch. I am headed out to camp this weekend so I will keep modifying as I use it :) . I greatly appreciate the feedback! Good luck with your build!

Hi, Lucy. Awesome job! I watched your video.

I want to fit a queen size on a 4 foot as well. Is that the Harbor Freight trailer? It looks like you put 2x4s on end. Was that all you needed to get the height above the fender?

Hi Tim, It is a harbor freight trailer, and 2x4s on end, bolted down, worked perfectly. The brown lower part is 1x6 below the the plywood. I did this because I did not want to lose the almost 6" of head room I would have by cutting out for the wheels. I also left the galley area low to maximize storage. I will add pictures that may help show you what I am talking about to my gallery now.

:)

Looks great Lucy, I liked your video. Neat idea for the swing around stereo system. Also one of the best poor mans fiberglass and paint jobs with stripes I have seen

Happy Camping

Great Job Lucy!
Great Trailer and Nice Video. :applause:
We would love to have you bring it up to Canada for a visit. ;)
Maybe to our Farm Gathering or to our Fall Crawl witch may be on the West side of the Canadian Rockies in 2016.
Give it some thought!

Thanks! I know I will make it as far north as Minnesota to visit my family. We will see about Canada... After 10 years in Arizona my Minnesota blood has thinned and I am a wimp :)

Surprisingly, acclamation to the cold comes back pretty quickly. I was born/raised in Michigan but spent most of my adult life in Tx and TN. I actually did a lot better than I expected that first winter back in Indiana. Last years polar vortex barely ruffled my feathers. And if that fails, there are plenty of small space heaters that are more than up to heating a teardrop comfortably

Maybe there is hope for me! I will definitely be getting a space heater as soon as the temp drops here!
