Our newest project - Truck

Postby beverlyt » Thu Jun 08, 2006 6:25 pm

Here is our new truck. It's not real pretty yet.... but it'll get there. It's a Southern truck that has little rust on it and what little bit of body work it needs will be done by our neighbor who is good.

I can't make up my mind what color of paint to go with, both inside and out. We plan on painting the interior. The cab top will be white, along with the front bumper/grill.

Bob is pretty good with paint. Any thoughts on what color you think you'd go with from the vehicles on this page?

(I don't know for sure what paint we're going with yet..so I'm not looking for a discussion on the best paint......just what color you like best... Bob keeps asking me what color I want.... I can't make up my mind.... )

Thanks!

Bev

Bev, don't discount the original colors on the best looking GMC body ever...they have a Teal and a light Blue that would look wonderful with a white top...

I agree with Jack. Those would be great colors... but shouldnt a tow vehicle be the same color as the TD its towing?

Like Jack sugest, stick with one of the factory colors for a 1964 GMC truck. Find yourself a paint chart for that year and pick the color you like.

Have a good day.

Well...... I did find this chart of GMC colors for our truck and that year...

Keeping with an original color would be good...... just gotta decide which one. I think our truck was originally a dark green color.

I bet your original paint was either light green or terrace blue. I'd go with the blue, myself, but Ymmv.

Bev,

Your truck pictures sure brought back some good memories. I had old 64 Jimmy 1/2 ton in the mid '80's. Bought it for $200. Worked and played hard in it for a couple of years. :D Enjoy the restoration.

The Light Blue would be nice, especially beings how your going to paint the cab white. You could have the paint store mix some pearl in it. From 10 feet, it'll look like a stock paint but then up close and in the sun, It'll look real good.

Have a good day.

Just the way I would do it if I was in for the stock look.

Bev--

Does the VIN indicate the original color. I vote for sticking to original whenever possible. I grew up in a '63 Chevy Carryall, now they call them Suburbans. That thing was white on the top and yellow on the bottom. It was supposed to match our white and yellow Shasta. Take a look at that color chart for yellow. Everyone in town knew that vehicle.
