My Conversion (with Video)

Postby Cratter » Wed Oct 21, 2015 6:24 pm

Hey this is my first post. I've been converting my Cargo trailer into a camper and have finally found like minded people.
Bought it for work as I do drywall & painting (hence a little butt crack in the video  )but realized I like camping more than working.
Been browsing for a few days here. And I made a video just to show the people of tnttt my work (figured its better than pictures).
I'll upload another video here soon. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks. It's nice finding a place to be able to ask question of people doing the same thing. I've already learned a lot by browsing. There are some impress setups out there.

Some old one I found in my storage. It says its a Sunbeam. I need a newer one, but it works. Not sure the watts or anything.

7x20. I like not having anything attached so I can wheel it all against the wall and have plenty of room for toys when towing but I still have all the comforts upon arrival.

Plus I still need to insulate and panel the walls. I have the murphy bed kit from amazon that I'll need to start building here soon hopefully.

I designed and tried to build mine with the modular concept in mind. But just within the past few days, I found myself adding beds and such that will make the moving of walls pretty darn difficult. i did it should I ever want to use the trailer to haul other stuff. But now that may not happen bc simplily it would be too difficult to move or remove sections. Now if I was to make a cross country move, well that would be different. Otherwise no, I will not disassemble anything.

Re: My Conversion (with Video)

My inspiration was mobile man cave/bachelor pad (we all have different needs which is why customizing is fun). I think too many people just try and emulate what they see in traditional RV's..Boring!....I don't use a dinette table in my house why would I want one where space is a minimum?

Whens the last time you seen a "tiny" camper with a bar or a sofa actually facing a tv? If we spend most of our time in the living room at home why is there not usually a nice area to watch tv in a Camper? Seems its all beds, kitchens, and bathrooms (I know were suppose to be enjoying the outdoors). Being a guy a big kitchen to me seems like a waste of space especially camping where I would rather be outside "bbqing."

Theres a 4'x8' table attached to my wall that comes down and I put a net on and have an instant ping pong table (wouldn't be possible if I couldn't push things around). I want my trailer to be fun, innovative outside the box thinking. Anything but the traditional camper that looks nice in pictures for selling, but doesn't have near the function. Instead of walking from room to room like traditional campers...small spaces are perfectly conducive to have the room transform for our needs throughout the day.

A murphy bed that uses two futon matresses instead of a standard mattress so that while in the "up" position you have a "murphy couch" that folds down out of the murphy bed with the "bottom" futon Matress becoming the seat part and the "top" matress being the back rest. With A coffee table that rises out of the floor. 8)

Has anyone seen or have one of these? Seems like it might be a good dinette or computer (laptop) desk.

Your drop down computer table is a good idea. Adding that to my lists of "possibilities".
