Newbie from Ellensburg WA

Hello everyone
hartk1213 here i am a new comer and i am just introducing myself i have never built a teardrop before but i am an avid woodworker i am going to start building my TD after the new year
i have started designing it
here are a few screenshots of my sketchup plan...
also fyi since i designed this i have change my profile to match the generic benroy profile
let me know what you guys think

Think twice about the bottom of your hatch seal. On my first build, I did it the same way––bottom of hatch mates with the top of the floor surface. But water likes to capillary along the seal at the bottom, even though the seal is "squished." (Another reason I coat the galley floor with epoxy.) I've got it fixed now with a longitudinal rubber seal at both ends, but there's a better way.



On builts #2 and #3 I went with this. The bottom of the hatch is pulled against the seal on the rear of the floor and stays dry.

Hi, this is Rob. I am from Ellensburg too! I just built two simple "foamie" teardrops this year.. Not finished, but I pretty much camp in one of them 3 times a month. This Sunday (today) my wife and I are heading up the on the west fork of the Teanaway. I also camp in the Yakima canyon often in the winter as the sites are free (September to May) and the roads are usually good in the winter. Welcome to the group! Lots of great information and help here!

Wish we could have hooked up with you in Wenatchee.
There was 6 PNW Tear Jerker Chapter members camping in your area until this morning (Monday).
There was a TD sighting at Confluence Park on Saturday, buy one of our group....but they did not chase them down??
Maybe next time? As we would love to meet you and have you as members.

It looks likely that I'll be living in E'burg by about the end of the year. Nice to know there are other TDers there. Looking forward to seeing you and perhaps attending some of the same events. One of the first ones next year is at Union Gap and then The Gorge on Memorial weekend.

I still can quite figure out where you were camped??
The PNW Tear Jerkers would love to have you as a member on our Roster.
We have signed up 73 Tear Drops in the past year with 130 members.
I am truly looking for more members from the "Dry" side of the mountains.
