Hi, I'm from Toowoomba, Australia and am just finishing off my teardrop after a two and a half year build. It is loosely based on a teardrop called Jim's teardrop that is on the net. The idea came from wanting a small luggage trailer that I could sleep in if I had to as at the time, I was a travelling musician. Now though I am just interested to go camping and as soon as its finished, I'm off.
I am just about to turn 60, (a young 60 I feel) and I am lookingforward to getting out there having done a lot of camping years ago with the family with a tent and a V8 ski boat.
I am not a handyman by any means and am not particularly good at carpentry. Having said that, the van is built from scratch with a bit off help from my son with the chassis and he can be seen in the photo making the frame. The sides are 19mil marine ply and it has an insulated roof. The Van is queen size, powered for 240volt and 12volt with gas stove. It runs an engel fridge and is set up for solar. The white hatches on the side is to get at your clothes without going inside, like at the beach or so...
The bench and rear bottom door are all old water bed sides that have been stained and marine varnished...
Cheers
Trevor
