If I have shore power, i have a small 1500 Watt heater to keep warm. No shore power, I have an extra wool blanket. But either way, I always crack a window or my fan vent cover to keep me alive. :D

I just did a propane radiant heater that replaces my Wiley window pane. It is fully vented work like the radiant tube heater on my former TD. In runs a propane flame from outside the TD into a big dog dish and outside with the exhaust. The dog dish radiance's the heat into the TD.
It is based on this design but fits in the window opening.

If there is interest in it. I will take some pictures and go into the details.

Cool weather comfort is a layered approach

1) a small space heater (mine is 400 watts) to knock the chill out of the air, and to keep cloud formation and rain from occurring in the trailer
2) a good woolen blanket to keep me warm
3) a heated mattress pad to keep the bed warm.

The first item is really a necessity....having condensation drip on you at 2am is terrible! The other two, you can use both or pick 1...

The heated mattress pad is my personal choice. Mine is dual zoned, so my wife can cook to medium well, and leave me rare :)

A electric heater with shore power is a given. It is hard to plug in a electric heater when your are not at a camp site(on a lake fishing or winter camping.
To heat when you don't have shore power is the challenge. How many hours can you run a 12v electric blanket on a battery? If a person is running a couple of cpaps Battery power is very limited.

Found this when looking for a way to heat my vintage Silver Streak. It's a little big for a teardrop, but would work for a cargo or larger trailer.

I have posted this on several occasions over the years. I camp 95% of the time with electricity available. This is the size and unit I have. I installed in 08.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amaze-250-Watt- ... SwyQtV7DgA
It is 17 1/2" tall and 24" wide. My TD is 5 feet wide on the inside. It is mounted 1 1/2" off the floor on my wife's side. It is a convection heater. It does not get hot enough to
combust material that it might touch. It is a very soft heat. On my side of the TD there is an electrical outlet that the panel is plugged into. I also purchased this plug in therostat. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lux-5-2-Day- ... /204356315
We absolutely love being able to set the desired temp and the soft warmth provided. Several people have seen it at gatherings and have purchased one for their TD.
My wife will not camp if it is too cold. A warm wife is a happy wife. She will camp in cold temps because of this unit. It is more expensive than a 15.00 ceramic heater but it
is worth it to us to have the perfect temp inside the cabin and no condensation on the walls

I do not see that that heater is fully vented.
I will not use a combustion heater that is not fully vented.
1; The water vapor they put out and gases that you will be breathing.
2; Sensors can and do fail. :frightened:
That oxygen sensor is nothing more the a pilot flame and a thermocouple. When the flame dies down from low oxygen, the thermocouple quits.
If the thermocouple is to close it will change the cut off time.

I winter camp in our state parks with electric. I usually have the place to myself and depending on the park a heated restroom. Between me and my dog
heater is only used to prewarm. Roof vent open a bit and window.

tried the 1500 watt cube heater a few years back when cold and found it just too big, too hot and noisy - was just too much!! also found after warming up the trailer and going to bed it was not even needed - once under the comforter, I was just fine and when more warmth is needed, I add another comforter which I always carry. But I did find a little heater at W-M a few years back after the "Cube" that works great in taking the chill out before I get in and is not even that bad with it running when in bed if I have a 110 hookup. It cost a little over $10.00 for one and is a "Lasko" Model 100 "My Heat" 200 watt heater - it has no thermostat, just an on or off but works great. It is also about half the size of one of the 1500 watt "Cube" sized one's and stores away nicely not taking up much space (6T x 4.5W x 3.5D). I did shorten it's power cord to make it more 'teardrop friendly'. They are made for under office desk's to keep your legs warm. I still find I just don't need it that much but always carry it just in case leaving my roof vent open/cracked at all times even when raining being I also use a "MaxAir II" cover which allows it to stay open no matter what the weather is - I love it!!

I'm still a fan of heating a chosen rock in the fire all day and putting at my feet all night. Soapstone works really well.

I have a Espar diesel heater that is external.
Working on the water heater heater using an automotive heater core. Proofed out by another in the group. Mine will be installed and tested in the next couple of months.

Thats easy
My tongue box holds all my electronics, including the 900w 2 cycle generator and 50ft extension cord. Run the cord 50ft away, power up the generator, and run the 500w electric space heater in the fully insulated tear. Problem solved!

Now if you are trying to heat by electricity off battery, remember that as the temp drops, so does the battery's capacity.

Also as a battery loses its charge, it can freeze (BAD BAD BAD) so take some care with heavy battery loads especially in cold temps.
My build, 5x8 modified benroy "Smiles to go". Started April 2nd 2015, first trip August 2nd 2015.

Proofed out by three of us now (Shadow Catcher, Mtd Don and me). Mine is a little complicated but can be more simple if I wanted.
