I used to go exclusively 110 v shore power only to power my fridge, AC, TV, power chargers for all the electronic goodies - but after a few years - I began to rely on less - now I have have battery powered LED lights along with a Coleman 5 day extreme cooler. TV is left at home where it needs to be. When it gets dark, campfire time with Coleman lantern for light. Cell phone gets charged by the Truck accessory port. Sometimes less is more

Right now I have 12v deep cell battery for charging my phone, charging my little pad and gally lights and one inside. I have an extension cord for my coffee pot, crock pot, electric frying pan, radio and to plug in my battery charger. during the time I am not using my TD I have a slow deepcell trickle charger that keeps the battery charged and ready for use, it is simple to use and has a regulator on it. Just plug it in!! I spend one day to get everything read for the winter. It is the way we do on the farm. I will be later this year with the TD as I am expecting my first grand child in December.

Added both to my build. They are tools that serve a purpose to support what I am doing at the time. Could I do without sure But I am essentially car camping not backpacking. I like we are all different and have the choice.

I also have 110 and 12v. So far the only 110 that I use is my is for my inverter / charger.. and a few lamps. Most of the time I don't have access to plug in, so I use my 12 volt system or nothing. My set up was mostly for going to mountain bike races, endurance racing, including 12 and 24 hour races. We of course need bike lights for these races.. and to make it through a 24 hour race, I need to recharge my batteries. I do have an 12 volt stereo in my camper, as well as some wired in 12 volt lighting, as well as battery lanterns and other non wired lighting.

I would like to expand my 12volt system.. adding another battery and solar and maybe a few more wired in lights.

No 12 volt but do have 110v and 2 plug ins if power is available which is nice when using George's grill or my 200w Lasko heater but really have had very little need for either. Just propane and LED's with lots of AA/AAA battery's that as mentioned earlier do last about 2 to 3 years. As far ventilation, I am thinking it would be nice and am working on one in my head right now that may be in the works in a few months. I use Ryobi battery tools and the main reason I chose their system is they were the one company that has a charger that can be used on the road plugging it into the power/lighter vehicle plug in. I also have one of their 9 inch blower fans and it will fit within the circle of my Fantastic brand vent in my teardrop's roof. I am working on a plan to mount it overhead than running its wires back to the inside of my storage cabinets, mounting the Ryobi battery mount inside there. The fan is a 2 speed and will run for well over 10 hours on one battery charge. Also have their radio, 1/2 impact wrench, lantern, flashlite, vacuum I use when camping along with their drill motors, side grinder, buffer, sander, skill saw and other items from their system at home.

On a tear, I put in 12V lights. If it's dark I can just open the hatch, or turn on the porch light and have enough light flooding the area to do what I want, and not have to fire up a lantern and haul it or a flashlight that needs to be directed around. An interior light floods the entire cabin so it's much easier to dig around and do what I need to do prior to bed. I don't do 110 on a tear, just on a standy. Another big plus...think in terms of resale. MOST people are going to want at least 12V lighting. I put 110 in the standies, have only used it once, but typically don't camp where there is 110, however, someone buying it in the future might want it and for the little bit of time and expense to install it, why not, if it helps to make a sale? I don't use solar to charge, and I don't charge when I tow. Just hook it up a day prior to going camping and I'm good for at least 12 days of power on lights and a fan. However, I don't run a lot of stuff, rarely the Fantastic fan and just some lights. The lantern is for sitting at the table outside and playing games or when cooking at the table, the flashlight for going to the can or to the truck at night. Doug

Hello all
I can do without 110, but I need 12V. My teardrop has 110 hookup, but I've never used it. Inside lights are important to me. Sure I could use lanterns, but if I need light why not have the convenience of just switching on built in lighting. This spring I'm planning on a new Standee build and i will design a solar charging system into it. I'm not against bare bones camping, but the more bare bones I make it the less my wife will want to camp. I also have become very dependent on electronic devices. I don't use any electric cooking utensils or air conditioning so my needs aren't as great as others. A deep cycle battery easily gets me thru a weekend. A 12V coffee maker sure is nice to have for a late night cup of coffee. All in all, I'd be an unhappy guy without some form of electric power.

Our first trip out this weekend & we used shore power & 12 volts, both were handy. The shore power was for coffee in the morning & a little bit of heat to take the chill off 1st thing in the morning. The solar panel made lots of 12 volt power for lights & running the fan during the day for naps. Successful trip & I figured that as long as we had free energy to use, the coffee just tasted better.

So, on my tear the only 110 I have is the battery charger...

When i get to a campsite that has the option of 110, I do plug in, only so I dont have to worry about running the fan. The fan is the largest draw on my battery by far (about 1.3a) and can drain my battery below where I want it within two days (48 hours)

I also do it so I can charge electronics without worry, as with kids I could easily get 40w draw on the battery in just electronics.

Once I have solar on it (this coming year) I wont worry one bit about it, but till then....

Now I will be adding 110 this coming winter for air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. The tear is very well insulated, but a Michigan winter will chill most anyone, and I built this sucker for comfort! If I wasnt interested in being comfortable I have a 4 season tent I could be using

I used to take the old style TV to the repair shop and he would make it a 12 volt. After 110 goes in it is reduced/switched to 12 volts. Simply the transformer was buy passed.

My Teardrop (Little Guy Joey) does not have 12 volt nor 110. I'm very proud to advise people my entire lighting system is based on 3 AAA batteries. I have one "stick-up" LED light on which I attached Velcro. I put the other 1/2 of velcro on the two places I need light: inside and under the hatch. I'm never in both places at once. WORKS FOR ME!

Im glad i went 240 and comprehensive super low power consumption led 12v.
I realy detest running b out of light when its dark.
Its one thing to shut off all light and enjoy the celestial beings and whats happening in the wild around you but i have zero interest at my age and my eye sight of making life any harder for my nightblind arse thanbit needs to be

Yes, I have 12 volt, a battery and a solar panel. I never have to use shore power.
My fantastic fan and lights run all night and in the morning the solar panel charges the battery for the next night.
But I have noticed that at gatherings folks like to cook in a slow cooker for the potluck dinners and plug into the shore power for that.
I could live without any power but its nice to have.
