Thanks for the kind words..

I know sensors in black tanks mess up by sludge but I opted to get it.. the display is a momentary push-button type and not a constant display..

I decided to start insulating.. I got some R5 green foam from Lowes (closer).. and some silver bubble to cut for vapor barrier usage..

Starting on the bathroom side tomorrow, so I can do the bath over the next week or so.

I unscrewed the TOP half tonight to get a jump on it..

@ hankaye,
EDIT to add; Generally one makes the deposits into the wide end and also that keeps
"stuff" from piling up at the drain (not so wide), end before you're ready to dump. Also,
don't forget to add a vent, also from wide end.[/quote]

Hank,
Are you saying to locate the "solids" flange at the far end from the drain? Does it matter, since "'solids' rolls downhill" ? And wouldn't a person want to keep said "solids" immersed in the solution? I've never had to deal with black tanks before, and since I am about to install mine, I want to know if I'm about to do something wrong. I plan having the 3" deposit about in the middle, and the shower deposit at the far end (shallow) from the drain. Black/Grey combined. The vent will be almost above the drain (deep end) Sound right?

Well I am doing my flange above the deep end as I want the drain near the frame as well to mount the hub valve. And I would think solids in liquid asap would be good idea as well. My shower/sink will also be coming in on the shallow end.

Sorry about the confusion, My fault entirely, These don't function like the one in your home.
In my RV (also my home), my commode is located at the far end from the discharge port (shallow end),
I also fill the commode full of water (2.5 to 3 gal.), when I make the deposit into the tank. The saying
among RVers is that when dealing with the black tank Water is your friend. As all the energy of the dump
dissipates as soon as the deposit hits the bottom of the tank the extra water helps to move the deposit
to the deep end of the tank poo don't "roll down hill" it sorta slides on the water that you also have to
supply. So, if you are not intending to use copious amounts of water when making your deposits into the
deep end you will risk creating a pyramid of poo directly below the the commode.
Your idea of the shower draining into the "shallow end" has merit in that it will help with the amount of
water that will help with the emptying of the tank when you dump it. However, have you thought about
how to avoid the odors from coming up the shower drain?
Hope I have helped clear up any confusion. If not just ask and I'll answer what I can.

@ hankaye,
Whew! I was all in a tizzy over having to re- work my entire floorplan or plumbing layout. :NC
As far as odors from the shower, I am going to use the Hepvo. http://www.hepvo.com/ Should do the trick.
I am hoping not to have copious amounts of liquids, (or anything else) in the tank for my expected usage.
I really just wanted a hot shower, but the wife...... so here we are. Also, I think I may have found a larger capacity black tank that will fit the space. (as per our previous conversations) So now 25g fresh, 29g black/grey...
Thanks for your insight and experience, keep your eye on us.

Since I've been up since 3:30am (since I couldn't sleep) I finished my wall insulation on the shower side long wall..

Then I laid the linoleum down.. and started framing the bathroom.. its for a tub and toilet..

Image

Image

I used the white panel to just a quick wall behind the toilet.. mounted another cargo light for that room..

The shower is getting green board walls and then something over that..

Image

I left the upper wall vent unblocked so I can plumb my holding tank with 1 1/2" pipe later to it for a VENT..

UPS showed up at 3pm.. with the Tub, Water heater, and Toilet (not in pic).. these are just mock ups that matched my 'cardboard floor' layout..

Image

Anyway enough for now till the 1"x1" AL C channel comes in to mount the holding tank the proper spacing away from the floor..

PS.. I ended up ordering the Hepvo 1 1/2" trap as well, and will mount just before the side entry to the holding tank..

So my 1"x1"x36" AL C Channel came in..

I drilled holes thru to the other side big enough to fit my cordless drill bit (about 5/16").. then I drilled a smaller hole thru the AL on the other side so 3/4" screws can be put into the floor from below to hold the AL channel to the floor. I will also have backup straps holding the tank in case.

Image

Here is the overall sideview pic.. don't mind the 10 gallon fresh water holding tank under it.. :)

Image

I did 6 holes for the 'floor'.. and then 5 holes that will secure the 'tank' lip/flange/edge to the support channel..

This will give me 1" of gap between the floor and the black/gray water tank for my toilet flange and 'grommet'..

My Hepvo 1 1/2" trap came in also.. if weather works out I may have the tank under the trailer tomorrow..

Ok.. The tank won't slide in to the 'rails' from the end.. I mounted the tank on top of the C channel.. I also will be strapping it underneath as well..

Image

After picking up moms ashes (cremanes) with my sister today, I ran to Lowes and grabbed some Green/Purple Roc (they use purple in this area) for the tub area..

Image

I will be covering the 'roc' with something for en enclosure before using.. no worries.. just trying to muti-task..

Tank refitted with 'grommets' for gray on the side and 3" on the top for the toilet.

I put the wires for the tank level on it and taped back..

Image

I got the green/purple rock in permanently and framed 2 shelves hidden in the kitchen area behind the shower 'wall'..

The toilet plugged in the correct spot.. for pics.. waiting on my 3" pipe to get here tomorrow.

Image

Here is the counter area framed in (with 2 hidden spots on the left.. 1 is for the WFCO 45 amp inverter charging center.. and the other is for the coffee maker. (see gray box sticking out of hole #2)..

Overall is about 33" wide... fine for my 15" bar sink due this week coming..

Image

I have 33" till I hit the wall coming in as well..

1 1/2" tank vent going up thru floor near the wall and out the 'vent' on the wall.. didn't drill hole in floor yet.. drill died with the 5" hole saw in it today..

Skil 6225 with real metal gears.. was literally 20 years old..

So I get a break for abit.. my 13 yo cordless drill won't do much with it's 12v nicad.. :o

ywhic, Howdy;

I see you've found a way to increase the holding capacity of the tank
by whatever the volume of the pipe run that will attach to the side.
Interesting solution ... (chuckle meant in good humor).

Pics for the last few days.. holding tank with gate valve installed (and supported).

Image

Counter top in (3/4" plywood).. still needs stain and sealing..

Image

Cutout for the mini-fridge.. shows WH on the right inside the hole..

Image

Toilet vent (1 1/2" PVC) going to goto wall then up wall and over to the vent in the top of the wall..

Image

Local Lowes has ABS pipe.. so I got some 1 1/2" and some fittings to play on Sunday or next week.. stay tuned..
