Hello.

I'm a Swede living in Norway.

I have wanted to build my self a Teardrop for over a decade but haven't had the time, money, place to bee, skills yea you know all the excuses you can think of not to do it. But now i'm kind of out of excuses so what a hell lets do it.

So I have made a ruff rendering in Sketch-up on how I want it too look.


In Norway its not legal, as far as i know, to build your own framework. So I got me an old and moldy caravan that i'm on my way to tear down. Funny funny funny...


It does have some cool features that i'm gonna reuse. Like this handle. Its gonna look awesome with some TLC...


Ohh did I say I found some mold?? Man it smells..

I like the shape and the way you have integrated the trolley top, but I am wondering how that will work out at the back if you plan to have a galley with a galley hatch. Looks kind of low in back for a proper hatch.

I'm not gonna have a Galley hatch in the back. I'm gonna build the galley inside the trailer. So its gonna be like a merge of a standard caravan and a teardrop, with a small portapotti (toilet) and the "kitchen" in the front with a big bed in the back. So its gonna be quit a big teardrop with the outside walls "hanging" down over the tires.
Its gonna have a solar panel for charging the batteries, sunroof over the bed so I can watch the stars at night, Small entertainment system, RGB led-lights in the trolley top. Electric heated floor for when I can plug in to a poweroutlet and gas heating for when i'm in the forest. Its gonna have isolation all around, for the autumn to spring is quit cold here. And I want to bee able to use it all year around.

I'm gonna try too make a better sketch off my ideas but most of it I only have in my head. And I know I always change stuff when I make progress in a build. So I only have a ruff sketch when I start and then i figure stuff out as I goo. I know, time consuming, but fun.

That extra kick at the roof make so much for the shape of the trailer. I love them.
Yea I have a pretty big garage now that I share with my cousin. So as i said, no more excuses.

This weekend have been productive.

I have torn down the old caravan, all that is left is the floor and that is gonna go this week.



There is a loot of debris when u rip out old murky wood.

Hell no...

Its an old brittle glasfiber box, that is pink, yellow, brownish red. Looks like crap up close.

And it wont go with lines of my terdrop... So its going to the dump...

So i didn't got any time to go to the garage this weekend and do some work.

But i did today. So the work goes on.

Forgot to take a photo on the floor before I started to demolish it. But this is what it looked like underneath.


This is how the frame looks like without all Styrofoam, wood and loooots of muck.


Rust heaven... Everything is covered with rust.
Hopefully its just surface rust. Gona send the big frame for sandblasting so I can start with a clean frame, and then sandblast the smaller parts like suspension, hitch, brake lever and all the smaller stuff my self.

Sry bout the late update.

But the work goes on.

First of I had to take all the rubbish away from the yard. My landlord started to get a bit tired and cranky about the rubbish pile in front of the garage. So I filled up our "small" WV LT35 and went to the scrapyard with it.

Maybe 0,5m left to the roof. Took me 1h to empty it.
And I still wasn't done with the rubbish. Forgot this sh**.


But after that I could start to take the rest of it apart. All of this is going in to the sandblasting cabinet and when that is clean i'm thinking of painting it all white.

I'm thinking of making it a quite clean build. With bare aluminum skin and a white frame. What do u guys and girls think about that??

So this is the frame now.


Now lets start grinding all the rust of.

Sry forgot to take a after pic when i had grinded of most of the rust. Will take a pic next time a go to the garage. It looks really good.
