New from California

Postby Splescia » Sun Dec 20, 2015 12:53 pm

Hi everybody. I am the proud owner of a 2014 Wells Cargo Road Force (6x10) that I have converted into a retro mobile boutique of sorts. I have been pretty successful, but ready to move on, downsize and travel. I have been unsuccessful in selling the mobile boutique as a business or even the trailer as a toy hauler. So....I've decided I may as well convert into a stealth travel trailer, tiny home of sorts for me and my 5 small rescue dogs. Hubby has to work a few more years, so I'm going on the road next year. Gotta love retirement! Anyway, this is a concession trailer with a 4x5 concession window, rv curbside door and double rear doors. I have painted the interior and put down race checker vinyl flooring to match the 10 ft race checker awning (my husband races P1 so I went with that theme.
I am going to create a simple living environment, with a sofa bed or daybed in the front of the trailer and benches with storage underneath, some with room for kennels underneath benches so my dogs will be as cozy as me at night. Brothers are going to insulate, put in 110 power and a vent fan. Would love A/C but afraid it would be too much work and require more power when hooked up to electric. I just mostly need lighting, hence only 110. Any suggestions would be super helpful to me and if you know of anyone who would love to trade a standup teardop, casita, tiny vintage or other lightweight trailer for the boutique business, I'm game, even if I have to travel across the states to do the deal. I am 63 and wanted something lightweight and easy. Thanks and look forward to talking with y'all.

Welcome! :D

You might consider a couple small AGM batteries and led lights for when you have no
electric power hookup. Solar panels and a charge controller are relatively inexpensive
today too.

Hi Splescia,
Welcome aboard and "re-purposing" a cargo trailer is fun and provides a great camper.
;)
I went with a 6x10 Look myself and set up the electric for both 110 vac by an RV plug and breaker box, and 12 vdc provided by a single grp-27 battery... all my lights are LED and when dry camping, I can easily go 5+ days, depending how much you use the lights and ceiling vent fans (yes, two of them).
:applause:
For the 110, I use it when in a campground for a small floor heater, crockpot, or other appliances. I am planning adding a converter/charger next year and a larger battery ... maybe a grp-31, 12 volt Deep Cycle.

I bet the concession window is like a PICTURE WINDOW and will provide great lighting. I can hardly wait to see your rig and progress ...
Good luck and get snappy happy ...
