New Build "62" Shasta

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby len19070 » Sat Jun 03, 2006 7:18 pm

Another miserable day weather wise here in PA. The trailer got all assembled outside today. And that's where its gotta stay. Won't fit in the building. I did manage to get it under roof. I'll spent tomorrow getting it ready for fiberglass, then hopefully by the end of next weekend the exterior will be done.

Len,
A brand new Compact. I love it!

Likely this will sound like a dumb question, but what exactly is that "bumper" you used in the back and how is it attached? I would like one on the back of our Compact. (The aluminum is in pretty rough shape there and I hope to "hide" it just a bit with the benefit of a bumper)

Again....... amazing work you do.

That's actually the 2X3 frame rail extended, and another piece of the same frame rail material welded on.

I shifted the wheels back a little bit from the dimensions you gave me a while back, because I knew I would be putting a rear hitch on, if for no other reason to cut down on sway from a bike rack. So the bumper was to be an important issue.

And thanks for the compliment. This is turning out to be a much more difficult project than I had anticipated but not for the reasons I origionally thought. The building is actually fun and I really enjoy it. But the building outside stinks. I can't work at night, I can't start early, My shop was the only place I could play my music, because nobody else liked it..can't do that outside.

Today being Sunday (there's a church in back of my shop) I really have a late start. Even my church habits have changed because of this. I now go to Sunday mass instead of Saturday evening Mass. I really liked Sat. mass, That Sunday crowd wants ya on your knees for at least 30-35 minutes.

I miss my Shop!

I already have the graphics picked out.

Image

In a 3 tone blue to aqua. With the lines interupted in the front to show lettering "Compact II".

Or my other idea...just write "Good Humor Ice Cream" on the side.

This weekends work;

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/len19070/ ... 4e&.src=ph

It all comes to a snails pace now. A lot of little intricate items. After the camera left I did wire the inside 12v/110v. Those wrinkles in the Filon are where the windows go (front & rear, no backing). Work is going to stop for a week. I'm actually going camping in my Tear. Len-

Love the galvanized wheel well!:applause:

Made mine out of PT Plywood, I dunno how well it will hold up for the long haul.

Did you get any telegraphing or ripples in the Filon?

Are ya happy with the result?

Cheers,

Coop
