Hello and Happy Holidays to All!

My name is Toby and I'm finally getting around to putting my ideas together for a teardrop. A little background on me: 56 year old retired Woman Marine. Currently living in Virginia on a 3 acre farm with chickens, turkeys, guineas, 3 dogs, and 4 cats. I currently have a large RV that I'm selling because I no longer have the towing vehicle. My current vehicle will only tow 1500#, that and the fact that I think teardrops are smaller, lighter and just plain cute, is why I've been stalking teardrop forums for the past year.

My first build will be a Foamie! And if the bug really hits, then I'll attempt something in the wood or aluminum version with another friend at a later date. This first project build will be just me myself and I (with a little help where I need it most). I just got my trailer, so I'm in it all the way now. Rethinking the steps with a build and will be starting in the next month depending on the weather.

Thank you for this site and for the comments and suggestions I know I'll receive from this group. I'll try to keep you entertained with questions and photos as I go.

Welcome Toby from a fellow Virginian.
I have a CT now and it is no where near completion. But I have this idea way back in my brain that just maybe I will think of tackling a TD project in a few years. I know for sure that there are some fantastic bits on info and help here.
Bob

Hi Toby,
Welcome aboard from an Arizona Desert Rat transplanted to Minnesota ... Good luck with your build ...
:shake hands:

I started with a cargo Conversion, then bought a 19' FunFinder Toy Hauler for the longer trips ... I starter to sell the CT as my wife likes the larger trailer better, but am going to pull the CT off the market and use for shorter and close-to-home trips ... so... I am going to be completing (If one ever completes such a project) the CT as first intended ...

HAPPY CAMPING AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :P :P :P
Happy Camping & Building,
John (JC)

Thank you for the kind words Bob...
I have the heavy duty cots that I was going to use along with custom mattresses to fit the cots. I even have the plywood for the overhead galley cabinets... I am working on a design for the table and folding couches...

I decided to add cabinet doors and will start these projects when it warms up a bit ... I can handle the cold, but my blood is still a bit thin from the Az heat...

I decided on the superleggera 5x8; my trailer has a 10 inch rail, so it looks like I'll have a 'basement' for storage. Piecemealing it during the winter months and will put the puzzle together when the weather allows. Hopefully, in April.

Yes we have been hit with some cold weather lately, haven't we. That is cold for us in VA.

Oh, and I suggest that you go over to the Tearjerkers site and look for events in our mid coast region. Not knowing where you are now, attending one of these events can give you some great ideas and the opportunity to talk to the builders. Ideas from TD's are also great and many can be applied to CT's. You can access the site from the "TD Friendly Websites" tab on the top of the forum.

You may have to register to see the links within TearJerkers.
