Trailer and Accessory/Appliance Manuals or Build Book

Postby AZ_Desert_Rat » Mon Jan 04, 2016 1:26 pm

I did not see this yet and am probably repeating someone,
Many of us either build or purchase a trailer and may not have all of the details/manuals that come with the trailer, appliances, and accessories; I was fortunate and my FunFinder trailer came with a fairly complete build book.

I also have a 6'x10' enclosed Cargo Trailer conversion that I purchased and am still converting for those short trips. I have made copies and/or obtained copies for all of the trailer, accessories, and appliance details/manuals that came with the appliances and accessories and have stored these manuals/details in a binder to keep them together and placed in the trailer (In my case, I also added a few framing pics to help locate these structures if needed). The build book really takes little space and is invaluable. I have also added the manuals and data sheets for added/replaced items in the FunFinder, like the radio, TV's and wall brackets, etc.

Sometimes we get caught up in the build or mod and forget the paperwork so... for those that do not have all the trailer, accessories, and appliance manuals/details, take a little time to get the manufacturer, model and serial numbers from yours ... spend a little time on line and print out the manuals/details for yours, add the serial numbers and even a maintenance chart, place in a binder, and store it in your trailer.

I hope this helps someone ...

John (JC)

Good point John.

I try to keep the manuals together, but I really fail at it; even for stuff at home.

It is so easy to fail in this area Bob...

I am not perfect here either, but the years of document control has helped me do a better job here than I used to do ... AND I still find myself asking where I put some documents... :NC

I think that I too often just get in the groove of the build and lay the papers down. It does help to keep a large envelope or large zip-lock bag handy. When you open the box, pull the document package and record the serial number, seller, and date of purchase ... Then stick the docs in the envelope to be assembled and filed while you sit back with a cup of Java or ??? and admire the install/repair...
